Busy Time Ahead
Just to say I'll be away for while as I'm replacing my dining room laminate floor and skirting boards and
then it will need to be redecorated, the new floor packs & underlay are being delivered today, so lots to
do moving furniture etc. I enjoy doing these things as DIY is something I've always done, only thing is it
takes me a bit longer now, the room is 16'x11', so not a quick job. I will be looking in for a nose around
now and again but not stopping for long enough to post, bye for now. JC

Hi Johnf
if you like doing things like that then you can come and give me a hand.
I have just ripped up 1,200 feet in length of old decking in the back garden, and carried it out for our local Bonfire, good way to dispose of it, and now fixing 1,200 feet of new decking.
plus new frames. Been at it for a month now, my back and legs are killing me, living on Paracetomol.
I thought I was a Super Fit Hero, now I am having second thoughts. But at nearly 82 not too bad.
Hope to be finished by Christmas if the High [Weather] stays with us.
Cheers
Brian

Re: Busy Time Ahead
I'd say your pretty good Brian your 4 years older than me, you've picked a bad time of the year for outside work though
especially up there in Boltanistan
, I've done loads to the house since I bought it in 68, I've replaced doors and windows
built a garage and 70' of walls a 35' driveway, all on my own except for two large windows, fitted 2 new bathrooms and 2
new kitchens inc all plumbing and electrics I've saved thousands of pound by doing it myself and people thought it was my
trade. cheers JC

Re: Busy Time Ahead
Good on yer John F. Have DIY'd this two storied place for the last 26 years but as the years mount up the number of rungs on the ladder I can use goes down. Have a couple of old mates tragically come of ladders. One has to be mindful of age limitations.

Re: Busy Time Ahead
Hi Richard, still waiting for the delivery hope it's not going to be a late one, apart from the savings made I think you get
a lot of satisfaction out of improving your home, my pride and joy is the mahogany staircase I made, it's got seven treads
up to a small landing and another seven to the top, it really does look nice I made it in the 80s I bought the newels and
spindles, hand rails etc and used mahogany veneer on the sides so the whole thing looks like solid mahogany, cheating but
effective
, cheers JC

Re: Busy Time Ahead
Hi John, i am also a keen diy merchant, and like Ian, find it harder to get up from working on my knees, i,m only a youngster at 76, the best bit of kit i use is one of those kneelers with two handles that you bear down on to get up, turn it upside down as a stool when my old dutch brings in the cup of tea, kt
