Hi All.
Couldn't get on the puter yesterday had to take Betty up to the RSL as we don't have airconditioning and the temp was 43Degrees, lucky for us that the wind was blowing the big fire just outside the town the other way, it look like the Hiroshima cloud. We were in the Blue mountains where Vernon lives for five years and had some horrendous fires with the giant helicopter dropping water over the house but the temps were a lot lower that this.
They have new catagories now to warn people about aproaching fires the highest is catastrophic and was what we were told to expect, everyone had bags packed ready to go Where??? the whole town would have gone up as it is in a dip surrounded by bush. But it was the heat, never felt that hot in the Gulf or the Red sea. Saved us cooking just stick an arm out the window and eat when it's done to a turn ha ha.
They also have a new weather map, where once the highest temp was marked in Red there are now two more catagories purple and magenta, and the mass in central Aus is mostly magenta
The bush firies here as vernon said are the best in the world, and all of them should be made the 'Australian of the Year"
Today the temp is down to a pleasant 24 degrees with a cool breeze, but i think it will unfortunatly be the lull before another storm, the forecast is for over 40 on Friday again. But we will soldier on.
Thank you everyone for your concern.
Cheers Des

Some of those arsonists are being arrested, mostly youths, (some Psychos) but because they are classed as "children" you hear no more about them. Tonight the Premier of the State of New South Wales called upon parents to take proper control over their errant offspring. Does this mean 'give them a damned good talking to' because if they if go beyond that they are breaking the law with punishment more harsh than their so called 'children' would experience. In fact their offspring can obtain taxpayers funds to take their parent(s) to court. Who's he kidding!

Aussie Bush Fires
I was talking to my wifes Brother In Law today from Adelaide he has air/con at home but it cant handle the present day heat. They have been going to the shopping mall which is well air/con'd with a library where you can sit and read.He was a ships cook and had done the gulf and Red Sea but he said he had never experienced heat like now. What has happened to the international dialing code from there,he was trying to dial here with usual number but was given a different inter/number usual one could not be used.
Regards.

Bush Fires
To all you guys in OZ, keep us posted on your locality and safety, just because most of us have never met doesn't mean to say we do not care about you and your families and how you are faring. We may not be able to help physically but as shipmates we are sailing with you and we think about you.
Regards Ivan
