    Default John George Gardiner

Good morning all. I am new to this site. I was a Bell Boy on P&O ships from Tilbury to Australia 1955/56 at 16 years of age. I look forward to restoring contact with old shipmates who may still be in the land of the living. I am 86 next month, hale and hearty thank God.

    Hi JOhn
You are about right, I think I was around 85 when cutting some bushes, there where some Council workers fixing the water tp next door, I stepped back and the next thing I was on my back, they didn't know where I had gone, I crept away to embarrassed to talk.

You were lucky Des to get away unscathed , my swan dives included at different times , a broken hip, 3 broken ribs, and 2 broken ribs. Apart from the bruising and loss of face . By what I can gather due to minor strokes if there is such a thing as minor. The hip has never been the same again and as they talked me round to staying awake during the operation to repair was aware all the time of their conversation which wasn’t very nice to hear.
The drugs they froze my bottom half with I was still having fantasies for a week after, I.e. seeing things that weren’t there , no pink elephants however. Cheers JS

    Hi John
You will never know if those drugs they gave you where for your op or for their fun while operating, my wife has told me some tall tales about Dr's from when she worked at Westmead Hospital, apparently they like a bit of fun when operating on some people, I they knew about your sea time maybe they were curious?
    Des LoL.

I,was told to go back for an internal cameras check told them if they were going to stick the camera in personal places with an audience of giggling nurses to forget about it , and they have. Think, someone may of been ham fisted the first time , everyone has their off days. Cheers JS.
