Hello from New member
Hi everyone, my name is Elaine and I am the grandaughter of a Mercantile Seaman who also served in the Naval Reserves. I am piecing together little bits of info very slowly. His records are not available in Southampton and as he died on watch in 1951 I only have sketchy details and no discharge number. When I can make sense of what I have I hope you will allow me to pick your brains. Thank-you. Elaine

Re: Hello from New member
If he died in 1951 his Merchant Navy service will be recorded in the Fifth Register of Seaman's Service held at Kew. Once you have given his full name, date and place of birth we can get you started.
