    Default Navy Cap

    Hello All,
I was hoping someone out there could help me identify this cap I have come across. I have been searching the internet high and low to no avail.
Any information would be gratefully received.
    Thank you
    Jason

Looks pre Tsar Russian to me with the large badge, although there would appear to be a crown there too, a good one.

Looks very much like the Pregnant Prawn that was teh B & C cap badge post the 1958 union of Clan Line and the other lot out of Southampton , but the cap looks much older

    Hello,
Thanks for the answers, the cap is English, made by John Morgan & Sons, Southampton. I would suggest it looks of WWII period possibly earlier? The 'Pregnant Prawn' does have a face.....not sure what it's meant to be?!
    The mystery goes on....

For some reason I cannot get the pictures to enlarge , but the Post 1958 take over of Union Castle by Cayzer Irvine ( Clan Line ) resulted in a livery change . The Rampant Scottish lion of the Clan line and the flag of the Union Castle cap badges , resulted in a lions top half with the paws held out like a boxer , sat on a Mermaid's tail . The whole thing looked like a pregnant prawn hence the nickname . So I am taking a good guess that is teh badge . That would be post 1959 .The cap looks older than that to me . From the second half of the 1960's I certainly dont remember having ever sen that exact style .

Thinking about it , it was our Blazer Badge at college as well , with the Motto "Tendimus " which as far as I knew means" We Stretch " . If I only knew that it meant

we stretch out the voyage lengths
we stretch out the food rations
    we stretch out your pay
    we stretch out your patience

Still you could still be a happy Sassenach in Clan line even if the Tennents Girls were your best entertainment

It looks older to me plus the cap is khaki. The actual creature is a rampant demi griffin as far as I can tell. Going to do a little more research later as have been out all afternoon.

    Default Antique

That is an Antique WW2 Royal Navy Cap
Not sure of the actual Rank!
The Sealion possibly indicates a certain Ship or Convoy??

Its almost definitely RN but earlier than ww2. The shape suggests anywhere between 1870 and WW1. It is not a sealion or demi griffin. It is either Neptune, Triton or possibly Poseidon. All 3 were known to be depicted at times with the shape of a merman. The www being what it is tends to be somewhat ambiguous between sites and so it is difficult to pin down which one exactly.
