Now Alf mate I have to enlighten you. I never sailed on the S.S. Vall or the Transval castle as she started life. But I stood on the rail of the Windsor and saw he make her first entrance into Cape Town harbour. Vernon did not sail on her either. However I did sail on the Pretoria as assistant pantryman while she was still the Pretoria before she was passed over to Safmarine and became the Oranje. That was my second time around on her. But sadly Vernon was not on her either. Just where the bloody hell he got to I never did find out.
