The Athlete Selina Thomson is following the slave trade on board a ship (they say cargo ship, probably a box boat), they warn the language may offend some, so could be interesting for us old salts lol, kt

Did it mention that the African and Arabs were the first slave traders or was it a British and American invention, just curious

All the zealots conveniently forget it was the Africans and arabs that started the slave business in Africa, some would take ivory and other goods and take them halfway across the continent using slave to carry them to the coast, initially the east coast. Once the goods were sold off the slaves were then sold off and the traders went back to get more, using their private armies to take the slaves. There is documented history of some them but I don't recall their names and they are very conveniently forgotten about by the zealots.

    hi tony #4
good evening, your correct in your statement regarding the african and the arab slave trade,as they took the slaves across to the east coast of africa, and thats where they where sold. This was before the west african trade route which shipped slaves to the colonies which started in the 1740s by the portuguese, the english and the dutch where also involved, and of between 15 to 20 million slaves shipped to the colonies the portugueses where the most prolific with around six million, the english shipped about three million and the dutch only own up to about less than a million, so that leaves another four million that the arab and african chiefs shipped to the east coast of africa, But the barbary pirates of north africa whom where active in their own slave trade and the 1600s saw them landing and taking whole villages of people to be sold as slaves from both ireland and then england,
But as you state it is only the uk that the hate and bile that comes from the left wing zealots is aimed at.

There must have been a feeling of something not right here from the skipper of one such ship.

He is credited with writing the song, 'Amazing Grace'.

The Anglo saxons were slaves long before any African nation was. Why skin colour has to be always drawn into slavery is just to appease those who think they were hard done by, and want to profit by it. If Hitler had won the war, all the slaves he collected would have ended up in his ovens after they passed their use by date. JS.

Slavery has been in existance as long as man has been on this planet and will continue in some form for ever.

The romans and Greeks all had slaves of one form or another.
There has been evidence here in Oz of slavery still going on in some cultures.

And there in lies the problem, different cultures see no harm in it.

be jeezus Lewis yerself can always be relied on to introduce a bit of craic, god bless ye sir, good man yerself, funny how Obama and Biden complain about their forbears being forced from their native lands, conveniently forgetting that if they hadn't neither would have reached the dizzy heights of being President of the good ole USA, if they hadn't then said gentlemen may well be digging peat.

Now this question is asked in the best possible taste, can anyone name one invention that originated in the Continent of Africa, forget the Arab part of Africa (and Afro-Americans, Afro Australians, Afro Europeans etc etc they didn't exist), I mean East, West and South Africa before the interloping white man arrived on said Continent, just curious, that should keep the cnp busy, I'm thinking of such things as the steam engine, petrol engine, jet engine, railways, shipbuilding, drydocks, tarmac roads penecillin, gas, electricity etc etc the list of . And lets not get on to how the white man exploited the natural resources, we didn't exploit them, we used them for the good of ourselves and the indigenous inhabitants when they got the independence they craved, would India have had 24,000 miles of rail track in 1947 when it gained independence without the efforts of the white interloper, would it have had the largest drydocks in Asia etc, as always there are two sides to a coin

When you look at how we organised India, rail system in a huge country, a law system, postal system, hospitals ,the list is endless, all i would say is we need that sort of talent in organisation right now in this country
