    Like you I pay taxes on pensions and other incomes, for income tax I am registered to pay in France, I still have to fill in a tax declaration to HMG and as the tax year in France runs from Jan 1st to Dec 31st a year in arrears the UK accept my tax return as not being liable for UK tax because I am resident in France.

    Nah Cappy not weakening, just know how much you miss me, now fair play to you, you were magnanimous yesterday over the rugby I will give you that.
    England Expects!!!!!! to do better next time, which I am sure they will. I see joe Schmidt is looking to be the next All Blacks coach. Be a sorry loss for Ireland if he takes the job, seeing as yesterdays win is his 3rd 6 nations Champions title win for Ireland in the last 5 years

    Do you just not read what is in front of you?? I asked you why you are paying council tax on property you have rented out???? I have clearly stated that it is the Tenants liability to pay council taxes & Utility bills, what part of that did you not grasp. I don't pay an accountant I have one in the family who keeps me right.

    you are probably correct in your circumstances Lewis but the general rules 2017 are
    In general, the rules are:

    Owners: if the owners live in the property, it is the owners and their partners who pay the council tax.

    Tenants: if tenants live in the property, it is the tenants and their partners who pay the council tax, except if the property is a 'house in multiple occupation'.

    'House in multiple occupation': the landlord pays the council tax
    . A house in multiple occupation is a property which was originally constructed or subsequently adapted for occupation by persons who do not constitute a single household, or a property which is inhabited by a person or persons who either only have a licence to occupy part of the property or who only pay rent for part of the property.

    Other properties: the owner is responsible for paying the council tax at the following accommodations:
    Care homes;
    hostels;
    armed forces accommodation;
    residence of a minister of religion or a religious community.
    Rob Page R855150 - British & Commonwealth Shipping ( 1965 - 1973 ) Gulf Oil -( 1973 - 1975 ) Sealink ( 1975 - 1986 )

    Well let's see now is my brother qualified, what do you reckon , positions held Chief accountant BP N Ireland at the age of 25, Chief Accountant & director of Finance for the Ross (Food Group), director of Finance & CEO of Strathclyde University, Financial advisor to the Scottish development international agency. At the age of 22 he was awarded the gold medal by the ACCA (Global), yes he was the one with the Brains in the house hold , not bad for a lad from the back streets of Belfast who never made it to Grammar school, even though he did pass the 11+plus, we came from the non posh part of Belfast. We are chalk and cheese, as he always thought that I never had a proper job running away to sea as he put it. He thought I was an under achiever. Last year when he was over we were looking through some old family photographs, He came across my MN documents and spotted my Certificates of competence, he was surprised to learn I had a doubled barreled Chiefs ticket. You never told me you had a chiefs ticket? Why would I, after all I ever did was run away to sea.
    Anyway yes I reckon my brother is well qualified to give financial advice, looks after my business affairs very well indeed.

    One can always register property ownership as being owned by an offshore company. There is a street in Douglas IOM which has a lot of offshore banking facilities. Apparently the sun never shines on both sides of the street as it is known to be shady on both sides.
