The mirror I would have thought will be paying nothing, the Toilet roll called the SUN will be paying a few quid.Anything to do with the City of Liverpool or anyone who has played football for either of the Merseyside clubs they will do there utmost to destroy them and make the city of Liverpool look bad.

Think the driver will get a driving awareness course at least.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that they will take no action against Carragher after Andy Hughes, the man he said he aimed his spit, opted not to pursue the case.

However, Hughes will face some police punishment after he filmed the incident while driving with his 14-year-old daughter in the car, as he will attend a driver awareness course after he illegally used a mobile phone while driving.

This was reported on the 14th in the Independent

I assume that in UK there are fines for using a mobile while driving?

But unless actually caught in the act by the police I do not think it can apply.
Certainly the case here where you must be caught in the act but just sitting in the car with the keys in the ignition, even though the engine is not running is enough to get you done.

fines and penalty points on your licence

It's illegal to use a handheld mobile when driving. This includes using your phone to follow a map, read a text or check social media. This applies even if you’re stopped at traffic lights or queuing in traffic.
It is also illegal to use a handheld phone or similar device when supervising a learner driver.
You can only use a handheld phone if you are safely parked or need to call 999 or 112 in an emergency and it’s unsafe or impractical to stop.
If you’re caught using a handheld phone while driving, you’ll get 6 penalty points on your licence and a fine of £200. Points on your licence will result in higher insurance costs.
If you get just 6 points in the first two years after passing your test, you will lose your licence.
Using hands free (e.g. for navigation) is not illegal. However, if this distracts you and affects your ability to drive safely, you can still be prosecuted by the police.

Thanks Rob, similar to ours but with tougher penalties.
Here in Victoria it is about $ 240 and three points. Total of about half the UK.

It's a long way for me to drive John to get half the penalty I think I'll just keep using my hands free
