Jim, i,ve been looking on the web with regard to this problem, apparently that condensing pipe should be in plastic, and not in copper. Mine is in copper and into the washing machine outlet, which is an open air plastic outlet pipe. From what i read the condensing water eats into the copper. We live and learn every day, kt

It just shows you Keith how the regs keep changing,my first combi had a 15mil copper pipe sticking out of the wall with an elbow on it just pointing downwards,now they say that the water coming from this is acidic (I think that's it) and it must go into a drain.

Hi everyone, our boiler packed up on Friday 2nd, British Gas stated the earliest appointment Friday 9th. Also the immersion heater packed up the following day. I did all the checks condensing pipe, electrics etc no joy. No heating or hot water for a bloody week. Wife Not a happy bunny. Looks like she will have to survive on "Gin & Tonics" and the electric kettle. In that order.
Happy days are here again.

In the 1930s, we were take to the local swimming baths, they had cubicles with a bath in, and for three pennies we got 5 inches of hot water and a towel and a small piece of soap.
and us three kids were then bathed once a week whether we needed it or not.

A bit old those regs Rob do you think that they may have been superceded.Quite a bit on the web that they can be connected to waste pipes,inside.

The Regs supplied by the boiler manufacturer and gas safe or in the interest of the boiler the Regs I quoted are the building standard regulation what is known as section H drainage I'm not surprised they are different they very often are what the water industry is interested in is you connect nothing to the drainage without it being i
Vented because it's their regulation doesn't mean it's legally enforceable . ASDA washing machine outlet is normally open topped that would fulfill the regulations but if you connected it to the sink drain you would have to make sure that you were above any trap system and that you had no way of getting drainage water into that outlet pipe so it would be much more difficult to do it properly

Mine is connected to the discharge pipe of the washing macine.

Hi Rob, in 1949 i was 8 years old and living with M@D in a tied bungalow, not too far from yourself now, in a village of Empshott. We had no electric, mother cooked on a coal range, and the toilet was a galvanised bucket and the contents buried in the garden.
