Hi John.
If Cappy's Wife gets wind of Kobi he will get a knighthood; and with a very sharp sword.
Cheers Des

Hi Brain.
I was offered a Knighthood, but when I learned that the Queen wouldn't be tapping me on both shoulders, but that it would be Philip tapping me on both lower cheeks I declined.

Re: queens new years honours list
Here in Victoria the speaker of the house and the deputy, Labor, have both been found guilty of misusing entitlements.
The speaker took over $40,000 in lioving away from homw allowance as his home is more than 80klm from his electorate. The rules say only country MP's are entitled to such.
The deputy took $110,000 to help pay for a costal property only 40klm from his onw home. Effectively the tax payer has been subsidizing his mortgage.
Both have resigned as speaker and deputy, but no money will be paid back.
The deputy has resigned from the Labor party and now sits as an independent saying he will leave parliament at the next erection. Why not he has stood for three so entitles to a pension from Parliament.
A new speaker elected, Labor, and the opposition leader put forward a motion that both be kicked out and an inquiry held, speaker said no.
Something about snouts and troughs comes to mind and the image of a guy by the name of Blair, some UK guy, who wants to change the rules. But of course, or the trough may shrink.

#82... Des think there are 3 taps the last one on the head. The words that go with the taps are " Be Honourable" left shoulder, "Be Brave" right shoulder, "Be True" on the head. What an accolade to give to any politician or anyone who has provisionally bought their way into the system. There should be a flash of lightning in a lot of cases, and a deep thunderous voice booming down from above "Not Him". Our infamous Tony think that is what he is hoping for when people forget about his past performance, but is probably having second thoughts when he hears about the Lightning and the voice. Cheers JS

Re: queens new years honours list
This post which started a few years ago see today here in Australia is still causing controversey in the Australian honours system. What I can gather by snatches of news being distributed by the ever vigilant news media, is that some female has sent her whatever back as an objection against Margaret Courts personal religious views on human conduct is. What I see at the moment. Who the hell cares what she sends back , she shouldn’t of accepted it in the first place , she is a rank hypocrite in my view and is spitting in the eye of all her peers who went to all the trouble of proposing her in the first place . My same views apply to the Beetles love them or not , when they sent back their MBEs that should have been it. They should never have been considered again. I shall have to put my hearing aids in if want to hear about the latest earth shattering news , on the other hand who gives a toss about someone’s personal dislikes or whatever , she should stay in obscurity where she belongs and learn to keep her gob shut . And respect others have different views to her own hypocritical ones. JS

Re: queens new years honours list
Way back when. I was Executive Chef (US term for Chef de Cusine...the boss of the Kitchen) of the most Exclusive Country club, and still is in California. I joined the The Cookery and Food Association which is under Royal Patronage, Est. 1865, and all correspondence had MCFA after my name, when they saw copies of my credentials I was elevated to a Fellow, all future correspondence was now FMCA.
A year later I received a phone call that a woman examiner of the order Craft Guild of Chefs that was associated with the Cookery and food Association, and the Guild claimed direct descent from the Worshipful Company of Cooks Est. 1453 of England. She would be in Los Angeles and wished to "examine me" for membership. She did and I can still remember her name. I was duly admitted into the Craft Guild of Chefs which designated me a master Craftsman.
Mail eventually arrived with FCFA, CGC, Plus she had seen my credentials awarding me Fellowship in the Academy of Chefs of America (Master Chef) and a Fellowship of the Culinary Federation of America so FACA and FCFA (2nd one) was tacked on, plus I was elected to the Les Amis d' Escoffier Society, so on goes AES. It ended up when I received anything like annual dues, or to the next formal dinner in the UK, mailed in organizations envelope, it read Mr. Rodney D.R. Mills, FCFA. CGC. FACA. FCFA. AES.. The word got out when a letter to me came to the club with that lot on. The members where impressed and being millionaires and ultra conservative, any thing British was to be desired like a Rolls, Bentley, Jag, shirts, etc. . I do remember the next Christmas. I was given, by the finance committee who voted an salaries, a very impressive increase in salary. I often have wondered was it do to my culinary skills or all the b.s. on the envelopes from dear old jolly.
The last laugh. If you noticed, my middle initials are D.R. for David Richard, when I applied for an American Express card yonks ago, Amex screwed up and put Dr. Rodney Mills on the card and I had it and used it for thirty odd years, being as my travel days are about over, I cancelled it last year (too cheap/broke now to pay the annual fee). However it was great when I was working and checked into a hotel, particularly in Germany as they are very strict about titles and hear them page "Herr Doktor Rodney Mills, Telefon, Bitte!" What's funny is some of the German businessmen had two or more Doctors degrees and it would be "Herr Doktor, Doktor, Schmidt or whatever."
Cheers, Rodney
