reply to Richard#5. looked up the directory but nothing there, I remember the place as a small town with only a small high st. it seems to have grown a bit since i was last there in the 50`s. The "Downs " younger son was just getting married, ( she was a good looking sheila) and if i remember rightly he had trained in some other type of busines, so they might have sold the busines and moved on to other things, but thanks anyway Richard.

Keith M There is still the Downs Shoes in Fortitude Valley Queensland they deal in top of the Market Shoes,the Shoe shop that was in Fairfield was as far as I can gather a shoe repair and sales shop!
But yes now long gone!

Did one out of Freeo, must have gone around all the nursing homes for passengers. Never saw so many Zimmers and wheel chairs in one place. But they were a very happy crowd. Not so many begin from Freeo and as most cannot fly this I s the only time they can cruise
