A one off
Well Today ay 5am there are five large Cruise Ships sitting alongside each other just outside the Heads waiitng to come through to Sydney Harbour!
This is an amazing site here and as said a one off ,don't know when last five Liners have been docked in Sydney!
Will see if I can at a later time get some footage .
Pity it was so early, and a bit far to go,would have been great to see this!
Cheers

Re: A one off
a great sight to see, wish i was there to see it.
sometime ago (couple of years) someone on here mentioned Fairfield, a suburb of Sydney, if they are still on here could they tell me if "Downs Shoes" are still in the high st. Downs also had a couple of other shoe shops in the other towns around there, i am just curiose since it has been 60years since i was last there.

Try this Keith. The change would be mind boggling. Would prefer it as I knew it as a kid going to School at Liverpool NSW.

Re: A one off
One of those passenger liners berths is where I used to tie up when working out of Sydney on a survey for a cable to NZ. Said in another post was coppers for us to use think about 40 dollars per 24 hours. Somehow don't think these big liners will be paying the same. Anyone know what the total passenger capacity is, if say 5000 per ship that would be 25000, quite a money earner for the shops and pubs etc. in Sydney. Cheers JS

Re: A one off
We had four in Melbourne in early November, largest number ever in one day. Sydney harbor is much larger and can accommodate far more.
QE3 due here in Febuary Sydney is one of the best looking harbours to sail from with the opera house and the coat hanger in the back ground.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: A one off
Do they park their Zimmers at the bottom of the Gangway John. A friend of mine who is disabled had a stroke years ago swears by the cruises this is however because once he"s there he stays put, is due home in a couple of days as flying back, so no doubt will get all the yarns of his seafaring adventures next week plus all the bumf put out by the owners. Have a good excuse for not going with him as the wife gets sea sick as I keep telling her. Cheers JS
