Re: State pension
We talk of different Prime Ministers making cock ups like selling the gold etc but this sickness benefit culture that costs the country billions can only be blamed on one person. When did we ever hear of people being on the sick years ago,we may have got a sick note for being off work with the flu etc but to make a career of being on the sick was unheard of.When Maggie was PM the dole figure started to creep up which was a bad reflection on Maggies government so what happened was when people were going to sign on they were told that there wasn't much hope of getting a job so was it possible for them to obtain a sick note from their doctor in which case they wouldn't have to sign on anymore and in fact the benefit was a bit higher, that where it started and of course the rest is history. So being on the sick took them off the unemployed figure, lowering the number of people unemployed made Maggies government look good.Doctors got used to giving out sick notes like confetti and the culture just carried on and that is the trouble today with big fat slobs laying on the settee all day smoking cigarettes, and driving a nice seven seater car.
Regards.

Re: State pension
Welfare.. Source Readers Letters Western Australian 30/1/15...Children who arrive at school without being fed breakfast or without lunch should be reported to Child Protection authorities. Whether employed, unemployed, or on other government financial assistance, families are provided with sufficient funds to be able to rent accommodation and to buy food and other basic necessities. With the Social Services available in this country there is no reason why any child should go hungry, in my opinion. The problem is that a huge number of these families abuse the system by wasting expenditure on alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, electronic equipment and other non essential purchases. JS

Re: State pension
My goody bag says go into one of the other bedrooms your snoring keeps me awake. Never used to get such complaints. Cooling off this week only 36 yesterday. The old electric makers on the roof paid their way the past couple of months the electric bill went into credit. Should put more up and go into business and sell to the power company. Never mind your summer will soon be with you again, don't blink in case you miss it. Cheers Queers and Ginger Beers John S

Re: State pension
I paid into the system for years, only get half a pension and no increases. UK gov says they cannot afford it but I thought the pension scheme was beyond gov cluthes!!!!
We had a feral Labor gov that stuffed the nation, and state govs that did the same. In comes the liberal coalition who attempt to correct things which means tough times for while. But the people have got so used to easy times with big hand outs they do not like the measures being taken o correct the situation, so after one term they kick them out. That is fine, but at some time the situation has to be brought under control, sadly it may mean your grandkids may have to do the heavy lifting to get the country straight

Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: State pension
#18 The latest one about Abbot and his Knighthood to the Duke/Edinburgh I cant get my head round though. It is the P.M.s call. It is one of the obvious choices he had, and as the Labour Govt, under Bob Hawke gave the Duke the top honour in the Country the Comp. of the Order of Australia, he decided to upgrade to keep in line. Whats wrong with that? It seems to me that politicians assisted by the media if they get their tiny minds set on one thing, which is usually trying to get one up on everyone, confirms what we all know they are a bunch of #ankers. Australia must be the most overgoverned country in the world, and must hold the Guinness book of Records for the same. Time to start dismantling the numbers. JS PS further to the above, when it was decided to bring Knighthoods back, then there should have been the complaints by those against. As far as I am concerned, another mistake that was made if any were, is that the first one should have gone to the Duke, before anyone else. I still have not seen any information by our bested gentry of the press, who is the patron of the Order, if is issued on Command of the Queen, then it is going to be The Duke himself, in which case it is the proper thing as Head of the order he should also have. What is wrong with the intelligence of our so called politics and bum media. You cant even pick up a newspaper here without bad grammar and mistake after mistake, people being mis- quoted, all started I suppose when they got rid of their proof readers the only intelligent people they had around. JS

Re: State pension
Just got another Note from the Government,
in a few weeks I will be 80, so my State Pension will be increased by TWENTY FIVE PENCE on my Birthday, BIG DEAL..
then after Tax it will be worth 19p. so in one month I will be able to buy one first class postage stamp,
So I can write to the Government to thank them..
.
As Cappy says, I Object to having to pay for other peoples Sex Lives, If people want SIX Kids then let Them pay for them . Why charge me and every other Tax Payer to pay for someone elses kids.
Cannot afford kids? then do not have them. I had two because that is all I could afford.
So Child allowance for the first two Only, after that you are on your own.
Having Kids is now a Growth Industry.
Cheers
Brian
