I answer to Vic #23.
Where do you get the figure of £26,000 from. Anyone can pluck a figure out of thin air to make their argument sound more plausible.
Stick to the facts. The bankers, sub prime mortgage lenders and City fat cats are still in their jobs, still drawing millions in salary and bonus payments while the rest of us are expected to pay for their greed. We are not all in this together, we did not bring this country to it's knees.
If you want to bandy around figures of people who are paid for doing nothing start at the top.

Hi Louis there are over 30,000 people in the UK claiming £26,000 in benefits, the average weekly benefits paid out is approximately £500.
My other point was that the politicians also caused the downfall and should be included in the cull.
Salmond encouraged the RBS to buy the Dutch Bank without it (RBS) carrying out proper due diligence checks.
Labour through Brown weakened the BOE by creating the FSA, which meant that no one was in charge of the Banks.
Milliband announced that we we (the UK) were heading for a financial crash a year before it happened and they did nothing about it it.
I am not for one minute suggesting Bankers shouldn't pay, but politicians irrespective which party should also be brought to heel.
And as I said in my earlier post it is time to overhaul the benefits system, why should you get more for doing nothing?
The average weekly UK wage is about £575 per week.

Re: State pension

Re: State pension
It was the Labour Government that sold off our Gold Reserves at the lowest price in history, that was the Nations wealth and it was given away for peanuts, only a crazed Nut Case would do that.
It was Labour who Raided our Pension Funds so reducing our Pensions. Only a Thief, or Bank Robber would do that, Their MP Pensions were untouched but also Increased, Only a Bent and corrrupt Government would do that So they will still Vote Labour because "I am Working Class" even tho` I have never worked and have no intention of working.
My Labour MP,nas Never answered one Letter , email or phone call over the last Five years. Now they want me to vote for a pig ignorant Labour MP.who spends most of her time overseas.
We also Have Andy Burnham who wants to be the Minister of Health Again, Another Con Man.
I wrote to him asking why I had to wait EIGHT Months in pain waiting for an operation, His reply?? "Dont you know you Do Not send emails to the Minister". Another ignorant Pig.
Again Andy Burnham, as Minister of Health,
"All hospital must have targets to increase Consultants and more Ethnic Consultants."
My son was a Senior Doctor in a famous London Hospital, He was teaching Junior Doctors.
He was told he would be promoted to Consultant in September.
August comes, No chance , they told him, Those two junior Doctors from Pakistan will both be promoted to Consultants above you, you will stay as you are and they will be Senior." "WHY" "Because we will meet our target of Increasing Consultants and Increasing our Ethnic number of Consultants, It keeps the Minister, Andy Burnham,, off our backs.
He told me that it was putting Patients lives at risk as those two junior Doctors had No experience at all but are now Consultants, all to meet Labours Targets in the NHS.
My son then packed it all in and went to work in California for Five years where the appreciate Good Doctors. It was the NHS Loss. He is back again now and is quite famous across the world in Liver and Pancreatic Diseases. So No Chance of him ever voting Labour ever again.
And people will still vote for Idiots like that to be in charge of peoples health.
Brian

Re: State pension
A lot whinge about Poverty,
They do not know what Poverty is.
I lived in the second half of the 30s and through WW2, There was poverty, no money, no benefits, had to pay the doctor,
I still have the Reciept for my Birth in 1935, It cost dad two weeks wages for mother to go into hospital to give birth to me. NO NHS then. They are whinging today when it is Free.
No work , No money, The man from the Parish would come to the door when dad was out of work due to the slump. Sell that wireles, [the old glass battery type, ] sell all those chairs, only two chairs allowed, Childer can stand.
and so it went on, when you had done that and showed that you had spent the money on food, then the Man from The Parish would give a little money.
We had to scramble on the tips where they dumped the clinker from the furnaces of the mills to get clinker to burn again on the fire to keep warm. no heating anywhere in the house. Just one gas mantle in the front kitchen and the other three rooms, back kitchen and two bed rooms had candles. Stone floors, no carpets, just a peg rug we made ourselves for us kids to sit on. Just one cold water tap in the back kitchen into a slop stone, a midden at the bottom of the yard to crap in.
If any one tells me there is poverty in this country then they are the biggest liars since tom pep. They do not know what Poverty is. I do, but we didnt know we were poor because everyone we knew was the same.
Britain is now the Home of whingers and whiners who get everything for nowt and do not give anything in return. I am disgusted in the way my fellow Britons behave and act today.
