Whilst I can appreciate the Scots being proud of being Scottish surely the majority will see that the heart must not rule the head and that Salmond is only in it for self promotion and cannot have the country's interests at heart in this dangerous world where unity is strength.

Knew there was a Scotsman involved somewhere. Must have been Frisco where I mentioned trams, meant cable cars. The American Tour Guide mentioned the original design of such having Scottish background. Cheers JS

My visa application is in the post and I have all vaccinations brought up to date. Marian has said she is lonely in her king size bed.
Idi Amin of Uganda declared himself King of Scotland and had an army division of pipers in full highland dress. He wanted to send a few banana boats as food aid to the poor starving Scots. If it's good enough for Idi it's good enough for me.

Re: SCOTLAND by 10,Downing Street.
wit of the Scots .. . .
.A Greek and a Scotsman were sitting in a Starbucks cafe discussing who had the superior culture. Over triple lattes the Greek guy says, "Well we Greeks built the Parthenon" and arched his eyebrows. The Scotsman replies, "Well . . . it was the Scots that discovered the Summer and Winter Solstices. The Greek retorts, "We Greeks gave birth to advanced mathematics." The Scotsman, nodding in agreement says, "Scots were the ones who built the first timepieces and calendars."And so on until the Greek comes up with what he thinks will end the discussion. With a flourish of finality he says,"The Greeks were the ones who invented sex!"The Scotsman replies, “Aye, that is true, but it was we Scots who introduced it to women”

#23 'BUT Louis ( the Fly ) would you move there ?' Crikey Rob, We are just up the road, you make it sound like Timbuktu. As for an Engineer or any man for that matter, a pair of sturdy hairy legs is all that's required for a chap to be admired in a kilt by the women folk up here....
#24, Ahh Louis, don't get a chance to be lonely in my super king size bed. When hubby's away
the grandchildren arrive! Matilda 1, Hamish 2, & Alexander 7. Midnight feasts and a cherub finger approaching my left nostril as a wake up call is all that I require to keep me entertained

Re: SCOTLAND by 10,Downing Street.
I was speculating post devolution Marian , when King Alec puts up the border fence and the customs post , We had a trial run of Scottish Government with Tony Blair , Gordon Brown , Lord Irving Donald Dewer and Alistair Darling , Best advert for David Cameron we ever had . If there is no Devolution , get rid of the Highland Midges and I would move there myself , see there is one advantage in a YES vote

#28. I'm an optimist Rob, and I do not think there is a hope in hell of Mr Salmond achieving his aim! Regardless of outcome no matter where I roam in this world of ours I will always have a pied-a-terre [excuse my french Captain Kong] in my wee country. I personally have never voted for Messrs Blair , Brown , Irving, Dewer or Darling, even though there are around 5 million of us in Scotland the rest of the UK must share some of that responsibility surely? As for the midges well no country is perfect.....

Re: SCOTLAND by 10,Downing Street.
I shall wait with interest for the next Darling Salmond debate on TV , after the last one I felt Salmond was away wi' the fairies , especially on the financial side . All joking apart , I feel devolution is bad for the United Kingdom , as a whole ,and despite Salmon having the spirit of Braveheart at his side , or the other fishy sounding creature instead , I have heard a lot of rhetoric and very little policy . The national press seem to think it will be close , or are they trying to scare the NO voters out to the polling station . So with the exception of flying the St Andrew's cross , and cursing the sassenachs for the highland clearances and Cullodden , I feel King Alec has his wee heed stuck up his nae so wee behind .
