It's the Police I feel sorry for, standing face to face with a screaming nutter with no protection.
Someone high up in the Force is at fault for not issuing visors and face masks to the Police.

This is a far better explanation of the circumstances here in Oz.
It may well apply to UK, USA and mony other countries.

Thanks to JS for this one.

Alice Springs Councillor Jacinta Price has told Sky News of the “reality of the circumstances” occurring in remote communities which the weekend’s Black Lives Matter protesters “care zero for”.

Ms Price said watching the footage of the protesters and the conversations around ‘white privilege’ “make me sick to my stomach” and labelled the protesters as “narcissists” who don’t care about “anyone else’s lives than their own”.

“The idea that they can pump themselves up, make themselves feel virtuous … half the time these protesters and these supporters don’t really know what it is they’re attempting to support”.

Mr Price lambasted the “ignorance that’s being bred through the Left right now” who seemingly ignore that almost “70 per cent of Aboriginal men and women incarcerated are incarcerated for acts of violence against their loves ones”.

“You don’t care because the perpetrators are also black, people only care if there is seen to be a white perpetrator”.

“It’s not racism that is killing our people, it is the actions of our own people”.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

British Mounted Police have face visors and their horses have a protective cover over their snouts. These protective measures are absolutely useless when so called peaceful demonstrators throw pushbikes and other missiles at the innocent animals.
Yes Vic, I also feel sorry for our Policemen when they face these hordes of hooligans, but I must confess I feel more sorry for the horses.

    Fouro

In these days of Health & Safety, the risk assessment compiled by the Person in charge of the Police on Sundays demonstration, in my opinion shows a complete lack of comsense and understanding.

    #56;

Avon and Somerset Police said a decision was taken not to intervene.
Protesters pulled down a statue of 17th century slave trader.

There is a lot to find out, before I can really comment.

I understand the cause but not the methods.

The attempted burning of the Union Jack on the cenotaph, London was disgusting, but was this a minority of trouble makers ? not the actual intent of the peaceful demonstrators. I am not defending anyone, just not ready to condemn all.

The culprits will, I presume be a few individuals attempting to tarnish the thousands of peaceful attendees, a few planned what occurred, the police will not be looking to arrest thousands, just those that offended. The crowds should have observed social distancing.

    Hi All,
There are so many issues relating to this, no sensible person would advocate the use of violence in these demonstrations, but there are problems that must be addressed; I hope you will allow me to attempt to do so.

It has been quoted by the media that Floyd George had a criminal record; now I suspect he did, and maybe was not a great Father, I do not know, but what I do know is that nobody should be constrained like that, if a dog had been so constrained there would have been calls for that officer to be jailed, but of course George was not a dog, he was a black human being.

What I would say is that what happened to George is a catalyst; who would remember Breonna Taylor, shot eight times in her bed by police two months ago, who would remember the African American jogger summarily executed, Ahmaud Arbery, in FEBRUARY? At the time of George's death nobody had been charged with these deaths, with hope things will change, there has to be change, I have mentioned before I am of mixed race, my Father an Anglo-Indian, I am a little 'darker' than most, I have experienced racist comments, but mostly from a distance; I am built like a brick ****house and am quick on my toes.

The Colston Statue was erected in 1895, 62 years after the abolition of slavery in the UK, this by the Victorians, who did not give a tinker's cuss about people of colour; that is why Cecil Rhodes was so honoured, we were such a wonderful Imperial nation that the asperations of people of colour were discounted in the British Empire. The white people of Canada, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand were never treated in the same way!

Thankyou for allowing this treatise, this diatribe, but things must be said.
    Cheers, Paul.

It was not only the "blacks" who were slaves, Britain had many many thousand of British Slaves.
    they are always forgotten.
The Roman invaders sent British slaves back to Rome.
The North Africans took slaves from villages in Devon, Cornwall, Southern Ireland to North Africa.
Britain sent Convicts to America to work as slaves, until the war of Independence, and the US stopped it, so they then sent British Convicts to Australia to be used as Slaves. the Death toll was terrible. from one shipment of 600 all were dead in six months. Read "The Fatal Shore".

Over the 80 years of transportation, between 1788 and 1868, 608 convict ships transported more than 162,000 convicts to Australia. Many died of bad treatment, brutality and starvation,

It was the British who stopped Slavery, The Arabs took thousands of slaves from East Africa, back to the Gulf for Slaves. The Royal Navy put a stop to that,
[ Why no protests against the Arabs]??

also as posted before,, was my great Aunt Emily not a slave at the age of 8 years old, working down a coal mine??? Yes we had our own slaves here in Britain
So I will never go on a protest, It is History now. There are no more slaves now so why Protest?? How Daft is that??.
