The engineers waiter on the Empress of Canada fell in love with the night Master at Arms {a straight guy} and for days every morning when doing the 0200 rounds we would find him sobbing in the crew alleyway. when asked why he was sobbing the reply would be along the lines that "the crew are pigs, they wont let me wear my pink dress in the pig" and he would always ask the M.A. to come along to his cabin after rounds so they could "discuss" the issue further. He was asked to tone down his appearance when serving in the 1st Class as due to having a different hair style and colour at nearly every meal, his make up was attracting the attention of the 1st class passengers.
There was also a gay Q.M. who was "married" to one of the 1st class waiters and they had a house together in Blackpool. Like most married couples they had regular tiffs and it was quite common for him to break down crying whilst on the wheel in the middle of the night after having an argument with his partner over the colour of the new curtains they planned to buy next leave or some such thing. The only indication we would get that he was going to have a melt down was when he would suddenly put helm on one way so the ship was doing circles and he would leave the wheel to dash into the chart room and throw himself on the chart room sofa sobbing and crying "the bitch, he never listens to my ideas". Fortunately this only happened mid Ocean and apart from his regular melt down every trip he was the best Q.M. on the ship.
Had many a good laugh on the middle watch or when doing night rounds with the "Queens" having a chat with them over their latest exploits.

#13- A combination of Moustache and November where men ( and of course, the odd veil wearing female), either grow a moustache or refrain from shaving for a month to support Mens Health Awareness Month. Hope that answers your queery Kong.

Lou got a free taxi ride in Liverpool when the taxi driver seen his badgers.(I wont forget that gilly) I remember at the time someone on here thought Lou was carrying a badger. For those that don't know I posted at the time that Lou got a taxi from his hotel to Lime Street station and the taxi driver would not take the fare when he seen Lou's badger's, gilly jumped on the band wagon that it should've been badge's and a good run was had from it.

Always remember sailing for Southampton, From Cape Town S.A. Big occasion full band would turn out with a Scottish piper to wave the passengers off. I was on the after end letting go with the lads a shout came from the crowd {Any requests for the last hymn } A gay steward hanging on the ships rails above us shouted { I,ll have him with the big drum } They were a good bunch and bloody hard workers.
