Jim. As I wrote to Brian, we're all entitled to our beliefs providing those beliefs do not cause pain or hardship to others. Your right mate about being a postman and when I joined in 65 the pay was low but the work steady. Got moved from Wales to here and found the folks just as nice. Mind you they were a great bunch up in L'pool when I sailed out of the Gladstone. Anyway lets hope Brian keeps posting 'coz I and like minded blokes find him interesting.

Michael,I dont mind getting slated by anybody I'm big and ugly enough to accept whatever is thrown at me but to call someone a NOBODY I think is quite demeaning and insulting.

Jim. O.K. I see your point and if it causes you pain accept my apologies. Brian also must of felt some hurt to publish like he did. We're all human and we all bleed (figuiatively). As for you being big and ugly it's fairly obvious you haven't seen any photos of me. If we should come across each other again please call me Mike or Mick as Michael was reserved for my mother, bless her and when she called me that I knew I was on to a hiding to nothing. Brian spoke about the 'Manassa Mauler', he never met my mother whose left hook was followed by a right cross that was awesome in it's delivery.

I see you sailed out of the Gladstone I was born and bred in Bootle just 10 minute walk to the Gladstone,I could walk to many of the ships when I was working by.The Freeport Container Base has now taken over from the Gladstone and the gate upto the Caradoc that you most probably used is no longer there.Google Seaforth docks and you will see quite a big difference.

I am opening a new bottle of Grouse, lets have a laugh.

I have not finished my story of the voyage of the New Zealand Star in 1953 yet, I may have to leave it until I get back from Tahiti, Off on Monday, for six weeks. The Long Haired one is driving me potty, " Have you done this, Have you done that, Blah Blah. Who is packing the Bags, Have you done the ironing, Blah, have you done the dhobying, Where are the tickets, Blah Blah?"
Gone are the days when I would go off for an 18 month trip with a tooth brush a change of skids and a T shirt in a brown paper carrier bag.
I am now locked in my office and aint coming out until my Grouse is empty.

I know the Clowes and the Salisbury, I only sailed once from Manchester and that was on the Manchester Merchant in 1961.
Did you ever come across `Dhoby` Jack Lomax? he was a Bosun on the Lakers. He died a few years ago.

Abandoned Book........ Mine has been abandoned more times than I can remember,
I started well over twenty years ago, then dont do a thing about it for a couple of years , do a bit, scrap it , start a bit more, scrap it again, then who cares, I enjoy it , sometimes.
