Hi Jim,working on the Liverpool Docks in the early 1960s,there was a Cafe outside the Sandown Dock called Joe's Cafe,there were big Que's to get in for your dinner all Docker's,for he had Curry and Rice on the Menu,so I joined the Que,anyway when I was getting served,the bloke who was doing all the cooking Joe Ian,that I had sailed with was Second Cook On the Ionian(Ellerman and Papayanni),talking to him later said this his gold mine,his Mother,Wife,and Brother,all worked for him,he even had Juke Box in there.He was the only cafe that cooked Curry and rice in and out the Dock's.Came a very richman,over the year's.Ken.R634898.

Vernon just read an authentic Indian curry recipe as cooked by an Indian water does'nt figure in it.his sauce must've been the two tins on tomato's that he used.

Every curry I saw cooked by Bangladeshi crew , went along the same lines
Dry fry spices
Pound spices
Add oil
Fry onions add garlic
fry meat with onion
add tomato
simmer
add garam masala

Glad you guy's look at the authentic, my thoughts proved true recently with an insight to curry houses, most have one stock / gravy pot and add Pataks:
Patak's is a brand of curry pastes and spices now owned by Associated British Foods.
The company supplies 75% of British curry houses with sauces and mixed spices, and sells ready meals to all the major UK supermarkets and other major retailers throughout Europe and North America. Patak's was sold to Associated British Foods on 30 May 2007 for £200 million.

you want a quick curry take some left over chicken and an onion or 2 and a couple of cans of condensed cream of chicken soup and curry powder fry the onions and add to the mix curry powder to taste .

Their is many different ways to make curry all pretty good. For me, I like to put a dollop of marmalade in at the finish.Seasons greetings to you all.
