Roundhouse
Hi to Mick-A and Glenn.....I too have very strong memories of the Roundhouse circa 1957-59. In those days I was on the Port boats both deep-sea and Home Trade. My abiding memory of the Roundhouse was lunchtimes when the place was 'heaving' and the juke-box never stopped, Presley, Fats Domino et al. Song-wise my most lasting impressions are Paul Anka's 'Dianna' and a long-forgotten version of 'Ma! Hes making eyes at me' by Marie Williams and the Johnny Otis Band. In the evenings we used to go further afield but the Roundhouse was always the place to be at lunchtime. Is the building still there, I wonder?.......Cheers for now, Roger.

Round House.
Hi All. "Oh Boy" does that bring back some memories. I think they should have named it PORT LINE INN. don't forget the Kent Arms just up the road, a favourite with the girls, had many good nights in both pubs, and suffered the next morning with hangovers. Good old days, I never go to a pub these days, ( the ones that are left ). Take care...... Terry

Great times in the Roundhouse.
The boss and wife [cant recall their names] were great. Used to let me run a tab untill I got a sub.
Pint or two with a pork pie for lunch, good stuff.

Good Place!
Remember that place in 1969,with all the quite famous Bands that played there, this was near the end of my Sea days but the few times there were really good!
Yes those Yummy Pork Pies with a Pint of Bitter that was the stuff!
Had to watch your rear there though,as a lot of the Queens from the Passenger Boats frequented it as well, the UCL Queens were especially popular there!
Remember seing Led Zeppelin performimg there in 1969 too!
Other notables were Supertramp,Pink Floyd,Eric Clapton and more!
Yes great palce indeed! Is it still around?? Anyone!!
Cheers

Roundhouse
Yes I believe it is still operating, The Kent Arms has been long gone but the Roundhouse survived last time I heard anyway. It all seems so vividly like today, wonderful days, peaceful realy and no heavy violence where on earth have we gone wrong. Nobody had much money but Im so sure we had better times than todays youngsters, The Roundhouse was quite a social place, Often had a last pint there on Sailing day. Glenn

Roundhouse
Port line and SS&A crews at lunchtime always had the "good oil" on which ship needed crew and which ones to steer clear of.I could do with a pork pie and a pint of Yorshire right now !! Ah well !

Sadly Mort the only way to get a Pork pie these days is to make your own, and it is easy enough. According to my brother in law the Roundhose has now gone up market, like so many others, and somehow I doubt we would be welcome now as we were then.

Roundhouse
Thats sad news John, Iguess since they flattened the London Docks and built all the fancy Penthouses, those people wouldnt be anywhere like we used to be. Yes those Pork pies were pretty good I even bought them on the London to Edinburgh train while partaking in a couple of Beers on the Payoff trail. Glenn
