    Default poetry

I realise that the above verse is not nautical, but it is nice, isn't it?. Terence Williams.R538301.

    Default Nautical Poetry

To absolve my self from the previous racial ( Welsh ) verse earlier, I do not consider myself a poet laureate, but offer some verse I wrote at sea in the 1950's.

It is dedicated to those who left the shores of Great Britain,to explore the seas of the World.

    To go to sea,
    Abnormal one must be.
A race apart, some will say,
Ah well.... we collect the pay!.

Whilst in port, 'tis a hectic life.
Lots of money and plenty of strife.
There's the single type, they don't care,
All the single girls they love to share!.

    But these married coves.
Go home to dear wife in droves!.
    We must admit,full of shame,
If not single, We would do the same.

    Slippers,pipe, and all is well,
For the married type, this is just swell!.
But it's off to sea, young "sorts" on board,
And the married ones.... just get ignored!.

    We're on the phosphate run,
To all and sundry, it's not fun!.
We talk the stuff, eat the stuff.
Then passengers wonder, why we get the huff?.

To mix with passengers, one has to take.
The comment of, he's quite a rake!.
A few beers, and we don't mind.
To this type we're just blind.

But one must laugh and bear it all,
'cause in a big pond, these fish are quite small!.
They shout, they drink, and lay down the law,
but really speaking, the're a quite a bore.

We reach the islands, and load the dust,
with the motto, "sobriety is just!".
Then fun and games, are had by all,
they've no husband, and expect a call!.

    But being seamen, cynical too,
although bad types, we're really true!.
We'll drink hard, ..... Think as well,
but our girls, and wives too, are...just swell.

Young or old, whatever they are,
no one compares with the jolly jack tar!.
To the tales you hear, good or bad,
a pinch of salt, one must add!.

We pack our bag, also a grip,
it's home sweet home, until next trip.
    The chores are done,
    with joy in our heart.
We say, " thank god " we're a race apart.

    Terence Williams. R538301.

    Default Britain

Hey Reg. Thanks Mate it sums up the power of the hills and moors along with the levels of The Summerland and it's people. The races of this old land(Britain) are numerous and often have made for the better the mixture. Long may it continue and hopefully mingle in peace.
