Looking at my cook books on Curries it would seem that the Portuguese were the first to introduce garlic to India so their curries would include garlic but not anywhere else outside of Goa. They had another signature dish and that was Vindaloo, made with pork ( taboo to many Indians ) Vindaloo is a word derived from ' vin ' ( vinegar ) and aloo ( Portuguese for garlic ) And so ends todays lesson !!! Vindaloo, in some parts spelt Laxative, hence the 'loo' bit on the end.
