Bradford city football ground fire
Yesterday it was the anniversary of the fire at Bradford city football ground where a lighted cigarette ignited rubbish built up beneath a wooden built stand. The conflagration that ensued resulted in the death of some 253 fans. The inquiry led to the banning of wooden stands at football grounds.
Along the spectators at the ground was our own captain Kong.

Re: Bradford city football ground fire
Yes a very sad affair that day JA, and as said Capt. Kong was there!
Often wonder nowdays what ever became of him, as i had on a few occasions Emailed him, but never did get a reply. Only the one time i Phoned, and spoke with him for a short while, and he was not good at all, saying that he could not Type any longer also his Eyes were not that good.
My Wife also spoke with him.
He did say that he would try and get an Email off to me , but as said never did get any reply.
That was some time back now, and since then, nothing!???
Wonder f anyone over there would possibly try and get hold of him, and try and find out whats happening now!
Its really a shame for him to get like he is with all his ailments, as he was always such a Fit and Healthy Man! Thus the Nickname Capt. Kong.
I had met up with him on Two occasions here in Sydney, and we had a good time .
Cheers

Re: Bradford city football ground fire
I phoned Brian last year and he was not doing so good, nearly blind , still though for all that he was chatty and pleased to hear from some one from the Group. Sad really we are just ships passing in the night, but that is what we are.
Concerning the numbers that died in that horrendous fire at Bradford city FC. Not sure were that number of 253 deaths came from. Sorry sadly it was 54 persons lost their lives on that day. There is always a Bradford city supporters scarf in place at the Hillsborugh Disaster memorial at Anfield Stadium.
