Re: Knickers in a twist about Chinese warships in International waters ?
Sadly John...
The standard of journalism these days means the "ignorance about nautical affairs" is merely the tip of the iceberg....they seem to be ignorant about many aspects of the world affairs. Even their grammar & spelling leaves much to be desired!
Still...after paying GBP20K+ for a plastic diploma in "Media Studies"..... what can one expect?.... I guess another round of applause is in order for "Tony Bliar" and his catastrophic policies that have so condemned Britain to less than Third World Status.
Whilst of course building a mega property empire in London...worth in excess of 6 Million pounds (2020 estimate---probably double that by now.) Aided & abetted by his ever-so charming Lawyer (Barrister?) wife who specialises in Human Rights..at the behest of the European Courts of Human Rights....even though... Britain is no longer a contributor to the EU bottomless pit of Taxpayers money that is dished out to failing economies around Europe. I say "is" but even the fat cats in Brussels are doing a double take!
But it is all coming home to roost is it not?
Now these recipients countries are being told they must accept immigration from "Asylum Seekers"....... ie, people fleeing so-called persecution & 'the strife of war' in their homelands. No: Deliberate Economic disaster by corrupt Governments.
As for the role of France in the disaster faced by Britain: Shameless. They are extracting Millions from the UK and doing NOTHING... In fact, they are aiding & abetting these illegals to leave France for the UK. So much for "ALLIES" Eh! Lest We Forget?
I visited the beaches of Normandy ...and the Museum with my late wife...we were welcomed warmly by the local people..They knew why we were there; To pay Homage......(despite our zero-French!) They must be gutted that their Government is tolerating this nonsense.
I for one, will never forgive the Government of Bliar and his cronies for what they did to the UK..... And I know many former staunch Socialists who feel the same way.
I am getting on in years...been in a "Third World Country" for many years...But I still care passionately about my homeland..... thousands of miles away.... always will. Time people in Britain woke up and did something about the travesty being inflicted upon them.
There. Rant over. Sorry guys. But Apathy is not the response that is needed.... Step up. Speak. Vote. I think anyone who says Voting is a waste of time...is simply a coward. Spoil your Voting Slip... But present yourself...as if you care for your country. Be counted.

Re: Knickers in a twist about Chinese warships in International waters ?
I agree there mate.
We had a situation some years back when a large number of refugees were picked up by a tanker, their boat had capsized.
Our gov refused to take them in, sent to another small Asian country in the region.
Reason for that, as the PM said at the time..
WE WILL DECIDE WHO COME TO OUR COUNTRY, WHEN AND BY WHAT MEANS.
That is still true today, any nation should have that right.

Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.
