Re: Assange
Well, unfortunately this story goes a long way to maybe stop whistle blowers, which if it does will be a pity, my son could have been born with all kinds of problems if not for a Dr who was a whistle bloer, when he warned about the pill that caused thalidomide, he was hounded out of the medical system for that but was proved right.

Re: Assange
The only difference between the said Dr. and blabber mouth doing it through misguided reasons , was that America was at war and blabbermouth was making public military secrets of course stolen and known to be stolen and given information to a common enemy in a foreign country given them information and putting allies lives at risk knowingly. Lord Haw Haw was more innocent than him , and he was strung up at the end of a rope. JS

Re: Assange
The world has been full of such men over time.
No consideration for others, only seeking glory for them selves and to hell with the rest.
He will not be allowed back into USA according to his lawyer, and while he may write a book about his time it cannot be published.
There was no mention though about TV interviews!!

Re: Assange
Whistle blowing is the road to martyrdom for many. Some causes may be worth it, but some may prove not to be.
The questions to ask are.....
1, What good did Assange do?
2, What harm did Assange do?
He certainly didn't do himself any good, not yet anyway. Neither did he do me any good, going by the cost of him being looked after in the UK.
No doubt he will be hailed as some kind of hero in some quarters? bit like those "stop oil" protesters.

They say variety is the spice of life Johnny ! And the world consists of the first part in definition exactly as. It is the biggest drawback to peace on earth with is difference mainly in religious sects and other unmentionable peoples minds on their choice of tribal leaders, enter Mr. terrorist to sort the unbelievers out. Anyone who enters the arena with a solution to man’s self made problematic world will no doubt be hailed as the leader of the universe never mind the world we live in , now getting close to its use by date. Re: Assange
A state or it's servants that commits crimes against humanity should be called out.
Why would several posters complain about Assange posting a videio of US forces machine gunning innocent suvillians.
Do you think that those 96 (97) Liverpool supporters who lost their lives at hillsborough disaster should not have justice?
Thankfully a whistle Blower informed the Hillsborough Familes action group about certain police offices altering the chain of events in the reports.
Should those individual/s have been silenced ?

Re: Assange
Lets get the facts right. If that American soldier hadn't stolen those papers the world would have been no wiser to the American atrocities in Irak, as Wiki leaks would not have known. What did He\She get, seven years, no talk of treason and She\He was a US citizen, people will probably say that she didn't publish the stories, but if She\He hadn't stolen the papers Wiki Leaks wouldn't have known about the Spies or anything else. Which comes back to slack security in the Pentagon, or by the CIA, hence the witch hunt.

Re: Assange
Well I only hope our present government doesn’t give him a job in any security dept. after making such a fuss about his well being. The example previously when in power years ago they were very handy in the release of a drug mule who was married to one of their leading lights present day , to make it obvious they rewarded him with a high paying governmental job managing other people. If he had been arrested in Indonesia he would have faced the death penalty. Believe if remember correctly he was sentenced to 3 years and was out in 1. JS
