Re: Death of Innocence.
Thanks , Candiotis would have been second engineer a couple of years at least before you were there as he was chief with me in 1964 on the Pennyworth and Warkworth in 64/65. He used to talk about his burns but never how they happened. Thought it might have been a talking point in Athel line. Cheers anyway and thanks for answering . JS

Re: Death of Innocence.
#208 I did similar but from 1953 to 1963 but with Moor Line Ltd. After 1966 things in the shipping world were starting to go ape shaped so poked my nose into the outside world of shipping and managed to survive until retirement age with a struggle. Must be even harder today. All the best JS

Re: Death of Innocence.
There are a number of Arab nations in the mid East region who are staying at arms length from this situation.
Maybe they are the smarter ones.
Both sides need to change their attitude if any form of peace is to be established.
The hatred and division of the past must be put behind them if any form of peace can be established.
Forget what happened 300, 500 or more years ago, concentrate on the present situation.
Of the 2.5 million in Gaza I think the majority just want peace and to live their lives,
Also most in Israel feel the same.
The problem lies with leaders of both countries, not the general population.
Once we accept that fact then maybe we can also move on and stop the bickering between us.

Re: Death of Innocence.
Sadly John the continuing actions of the IDF and Benjamin Netanyahu will be well remembered by those who are left in Gaza.
There will never be peace in that region.

Re: Death of Innocence.
Hey Johnny,
Maybe I was a bit obtuse in parsing your sentence, you obviously were referencing incidents from way back.
The relevance I was making was apposite to the current discussion as some people hold to the view that the conflict began on October 7th last year and others that the stage was set starting just after WW1.
The horrific Hamas attack did not happen in a vacuum. It just seems critical to try and understand to help stop it repeating.
Regards,
Dave.

Re: Death of Innocence.
r the UN has called for a cease to all hostilities and a peace conference to be held.
Israel said they will ignore all comments from any organization including UN saying they will continue to destroy HAMAS.
It will only end when Israel stop, and not before.
They have a one eyed approach to this.
