Yesterday Daily Mail online
Russia 'secretly moves 100 missiles back from Belarus'
How is it a secret if you can read it in the paper or online.

Re: Stupid News Reporting
Maybe the president of Belarus is getting cold feet after his obvious support for Putin. Must owe him money ?
What gets me there has yet to be a declaration of war by either side. What further gets me is when some documentary mentions the words legal war ? There is legal self defence , but to legalise mass killing is very obscure. The country who commits that crime has no place of a seat on the United Nations. The rules that have been made up ,if dont cover that evenuality
should be re-written . JS.

Re: Stupid News Reporting
That Daily Mail report was a bit lacking.
Virtually every report must contain the disclaimer "ALLEGEDLY"!!!
As for the UN Security Council, I am sure the charter could be rewritten to expel Russia by removing that country's right to a VETO.
If Putin can call his war a "special operation" then the UN SC can call a "veto" a "non-vote"!!

John S
After your history of Russia's wars, I looked up Americas, and even to me it was stunning, I was going to put them on site but unfortunately there were far too many, just Google American wars, up until they took a thrashing in Afghanistan they had invaded around quarter of the world.
As an aside I saw Kissinger on TV the other night thought he was dead, probably frightened to die to many waiting for him from Cambodia.

Re: Stupid News Reporting
#4. Des certainly not all the wars the USA has been involved in ,as will leave that to the pleasure of others looking up and self educating. But the key dates in American history which I have no doubt most Americans already know.
16 th Century . Spanish, English and French explore. North America.
1607. Chesapeake Bay colony established
1620 Pilgrims found Plymouth Colony.
1624 Dutch settle in New York.
1682 French claim Mississippi Valley.
1775- 83 Revolution ..War of Independence
1776 Formal Declaration of Independence
1783 Treaty recognises US Independence
1803 Louisiana Purchase of lands from France
1846-8 Mexican war US wins vast terrritories west of the Rockies
1861-5 Civil War . Union fights secessional Confederate States.
1865 Slavery outlawed
1917-18 Joins allied side in first WW
1929 Stock Market crash leads to Depression
1941Japanese attack Pearl Harbour , Hawaii
1941-5 Joins Allied side in WW2
1950-3 Leads U.N. Forces in Korean War.
1963 President Kennedy assassinated
1964 Enters Vietnam war to assist South Vietnam against the North
1969 Neil Armstrong lands on moon
1973 Vietnam cease fire troops leave.
1974 President Nixon resigns over Watergate scandal.
1991 Leads international coalilition in Gulf war.
1994 North American Free Trade with Canada and Mexico
2001 President Bush resurrectsthe National Missile Defense System. War on terrorism launched after terrorist attacks on New York and Washington . And the rest is history as most have lived it.
Some of the former not even mentioned were the likes of the Cuban Crisis I can vouch for as was there , also the short time also there was Vietnam, also on the brink of the wars of the Middle East, and also at the cease fire in Korea. And there are still observers alive today who can also vouch for same. But also believe the Americans fought a war in Cuba long before the Cuban Crisis , but well before anyone of us on here.
Cheers JS
PS one war I remember from history at school was the Crimean war and of course the charge of the Light Brigade.
America took the side of the Russians and there is still trouble today in the Crimea.
Maybe why the Russians sold Alaska to the US for peanuts later ?

John, you forgot to mention Saint Brendan and the stepping stones. Probably why a lot of US presidents claimed to be Paddy's

Re: Stupid News Reporting
A forecast, if USA goes into recession it will look for a war somewhere to be involved in.
Had happened just about each time.
Soaks up the unemployed either as conscripts or in the munition factories and other war associated industries.

Re: Stupid News Reporting
Just watching Sky News how about this corker
Appeals for warm clothing as people struggle to keep their homes warm.
The presenter suggested if people had spare electric blankets they could donate they could prove helpful.
Now I am not trying to belittle those in the unfortunate position of hardship and needing help!!!
But really you would have thought a TV presenter would have thought before she suggested ELECTRIC blankets.

Re: Stupid News Reporting
Our some what simple PM said yesterday when surveying all the floods,
'This is just the work of nature, seasonal floods and droughts'.
The Greens, who put him in power with their preferences are not happy bunnies with that comment.
Twitter, since the Musk man took over is now flooded with 'climate deniers' who are speaking the truth about it all, and getting cheers for it from many corners.
