Here is the ITF, ILO minimum wage scales. If you download the Pdf. File the actual rates of pay are given.
As an example the daily rates for
    Master is $72
    A.B. is $21

That’s nothing to write home about today. Now I understand why the US masters I knew were so hard up compared with the Australians . Cheers JS

My understanding is that P&O UK and here in Oz are both Carnival owned.
Though they are run as separate companies within Carnival.
P&O UK and the P&O Oz.
The ferry service is a separate matter.

#83. 1991 ... offshore here the wage for master on a straight supply vessel and the lowest wage was $70,000 p.a. And that was 1 for 1 , I.e. every day on made 1 days paid leave off. There was about 80 cents difference between a US dollar and an Aust. Dollar so that made the salary $56 000 US. Or approx US $ 155 a day. An AB was on 49000 Australian dollars a year. This could be increased by not taken the paid leave and doing extra time if required by both parties. One American master who I signed on as 2 mate so as to have an American presence on board for a US registered ship , told me that the Australian ABs we’re earning more than him. If he was on the ITF rates which he may well have been , I can now see his point of view I myself worked for US owners for nearly a year in 1967 and was on 700 $ US a month , the British ship I left after the seaman’s strike I was on 101 pounds 12/6 a month and 27 pounds 2/6d a month in lieu of overtime. This was below US money, but must have had a long way to catch up with Australian whatever it was in that period of time . I had no occasion to not agree with the US wages at that time, and certainly not with the Australian at a later date. The only query wage wise was always on British ships which to me were always dragging their heels. Cheers JS.

Which all makes my wage of 32 pounds a month look like slave labour, I may start a white Woke movement and throw any monuments I dislike into the Red Sea. But I will keep my discharge book LoL

Des, you were in good company at that rate.
It was about what footballers got per match in the 50's.
Then after the match went to work.

The BBC reporting that the insolvency service has launched criminal and civil investigation into the sacking of the crews.
P&O ferries have said that only 1 ex employee had not agreed to the redundancy package offered by the deadline for acceptance
