Hi Lou,I'm almost certain it was in the 50's when Johnny went to N.Z.Whether he is still going or not I'm not sure. It's a bit late now to ring my brother but I will do so tomorrow and see what I can find out.I'l keep you in touch.Would there be many Mcnabs in the Auckland phone book?
Regards.

Hi Lou........If, as Jim suggests, you search the Auckland Telephone Directory, but still have no luck, you might try looking at the electoral rolls for the Auckland district. Apparently, this information is not available on line, however, N.Z. Electoral Rolls can be searched through at any Public Library, PostShop, Council Offices, Courthouse, or the Registrar of Electors Office. Good luck with your search Lou.........cheers Roger.

Hi Lou,That was a good suggestion by Roger so that somewhere to start from.I spoke to my brother he sailed with Johnny on the Queen Of Bermuda (Trooping) 1946,he said it was the 50's when he went to N.Z.
I checked out the local Radio Stations in Auckland and there are quite a few,I wondered if any of them do appeals to reunite old friends.I've sent one an e.mail asking that question and if they dont do they know of a station that does.Is there anybody out there that listens to Radio Stations broadcasting from Aucland ?
maybe they would know.
A couple of years ago a guy was coming to Liverpool from OZ on holiday,he put out an appeal on our local station for an old shipmate. The shipmate he was looking for was my Brother in Law who has lived in the Adelaide area sinc the late 60's,the guy looking for him lived about 100 miles from him in Oz.I suppose this is something similar to Lou.
Regards.

Hi Lou,I've just spoken to my brother he did'nt know Johnnys middle name.Florida street dosent ring a bell.
My brother said John was born 1925,I've checked out the Merchant Navy records for that year there is a J.H.Mcnab, born Southport, thats he nearest place to Bootle,my brother dose'nt think it's him but thats the only J Mcnab registered for 1925.If you have a J.H.Mcnab on your list its worth a try.
If Castleman reads this maybe he would know how to access records I am not aware of.
Regards.

Florida St
Hi JB/Lou, Florida St was half way down Strand Rd, on the left towards the Alex Dk. On the corner was the County Furnishers with Hills's Record shop almost opposite. Well known family in Florida St was the "Sands"............. ... Jd.
