Finding CR10s
Does anyone have any advice for me? I've managed to get the BSIC for a man who joined the Merchant Navy in Cardiff in 1947 from the National Archives. The BSIC gives an old number (S54177) crossed out and replaced with R396633. I know there's nothing unusual in that. I asked the National Archives to look for his CR10, but they tell me there's nothing there. I asked them to check BT 382/3073, which is 'Series 2, mainly of European origin, 1946-1972'. He was Maltese. I know he joined the MN in Cardiff having come from Bristol. I suppose this was some time in 1946, but I'm guessing. He was born in 1925. Where do I get the National Archives to look for his CR10?

Re: Finding CR10s
Hi Saoirse,
The CRS 10 you asked TNA to look at is certainly correct if he was serving say beyond 1965 but if he left before then you need to look in BT 382/2012
