You have a good eye despite the poor quality picture, the hull I bought was said to be a “standard” SAM hull from the Bethlehem shipyard in Baltimore, and from the plans it was a ship named “City of Ely”, which after researching proved to be the ex “Samarina” built by Bethlehem. I would assume that the “Samariz” would be a very similar sister ship.

I don't think anyone on this site could build a model of the 'Ship of the Fens' as it was originally built in the small City of Ely over a thousand years ago.

Actually John I have visited Ely Cathedral several times and I would let you know the reason it is nicknamed the 'Ship of the Fens' is it seen all over the Fenlands.

Hi Bill.
I like that, it's a lovely model, nothing like a sailing ship to show up engine driven ships. On saying that I have a painting I did of a London tug that is on the site somewhere, and also have a series of pics of London tugs on the wall.. As I have said before I wish I'd had my brothers luck to have been on the last grain ship the Pamir to go around the Horn.

Of course, the skipper of Cutty Sark did not want to get the sails wet, buggers to haul kin when they are.
