Re: Sea temperature
Being cynical as you are it is no wonder you say it is to gain votes.
All polis do that.
But sensible govs are now coming to understand that the first mad rush to renewables and other things is not going as planned.
A number of other countries are changing lanes on this one, Germany I hear is to reopen coal mines to provide the power needed for industry.
Here in Oz the high court has allowed a gov decision to start a new coal mine and expand another.

Re: Sea temperature
John I think the Germans are re activating coal fired stations only because some one blew a big hole in the Nord Stream pipe lines in the Baltic sea. Also because of sanctions imposed against Russia.

Re: Sea temperature
No matter the reason they are.
Here in Oz the Queensland gov has allowed a license for a new coal mine, the Greens are not happy.
But the demand for coal here and overseas is the reason.
If we do not supply some other country will.

Re: Sea temperature
Well I can understand the reasons. The Coal and LNG exports in 2019/2020 was worth $115 billion. If Australia cut back on Exports of fossil fuels the Chinese may have something to say about that as well as the Japanese.
Can yous not up the exports of good Aussie beers and maybe a few extra cases of quality Aussie wines.
Seems to be here Carlsberg is cornering the Supermarket beer shelves. Utter tish cannot bring myself to drink that piss.

Re: Sea temperature
We do export some very good wines, Jacobs Creek, Penfolds, Yellow Tail, all available in UK.
There are also some not so good ones, sent over in bulk and bottled with odd name such as Red Roo, to make it sound more Australian for those who do not know.
AS to beer, tried some local brewed Fosters in London, mate that stuff would kill a brown dog.
