I recall visiting Willemstad in 1975/76 as a Jun. Eng and having a brief look around before being ushered back to the ship by some of the chaps.....
As for "brothels", well every port I went to in Brazil had a "**** Street" with bar after bar after bar full of young lovelies willing to entertain a young English sailor for really quite modest compensation. In Rio there was the Florida Bar, Cowboy Bar, Skandi Bar, Hollywood Bar etc.etc.etc. Same for the other Brazilian Ports like Santos (the Night & Day Bar), Recife and Paracuru.... Can't remember the bars in Buenos Aries now but do recall getting picked up by the cops at 3 in the morning because we couldn't find our "Fiches".... Santa Marta in Colombia had a great bar up on the hill that was known as "The Smoking Fish" because of the big illuminated sign above the roof.

Even with such a bawdy subject there is no reason to print such racist language as this. I personally have not heard this term before, nor do I wish to again, even from an Australian, ( or is that me being racist ).

    (1) Bawdy subject, it's mild compared to whats on TV, even in the adverts, never mind the programmes

    (2) Guess you've led a sheltered life

The only thing I remember of Willamstad was the first colour telly I ever saw. Went there half a dozen times, but no real memories of it.

Now all I can say is that is Dutch efficiency for you.

Within the facility, which is billed as a "Gentleman's Club", is a bar, billiard tables and slot machines
Hookers with slot machines, what will they think of next!! Chip & Pin.

My memory of Curacao was late 1967 in Willemstadt. I was 2Elec on the Port Nelson tied up close to the Queen Juliana bridge which was under construction. Sometime during the morning the bridge collapsed, killing 14 workers. Took them a good few years to recover and rebuild the bridge. There's a photo on a website of the collapsed bridge with the Port Nelson in the background. Was quite shocking at the time, it was just a regular bunkering port for us.

Well mate if that is the worst you ever hear then you have heard nothing, once you have been insulted by experts nothing will phase you.
Terms of endearment I think they were called.
