Apparently Tom, he really did not know, and was very embarrassed on the show. Some of these people leave a completely blinkered life, going down a path of a chosen profession, and oblivious to the rest of the world, kt

    hi keith#14
good afternoon, it was just off the cuff , But they are only spouting lines they have prepared prior to broadcast, and very few seem to be able to ad-lib,( as you would have to think on your feet ) just look at whats happening with the politically correct channels, bb1,bbc2, itv, channel 4 channel 5,sky, they have taken out good presenters and inserted anybody with a discernable bent that suits the political agenda of the liberal left wing, and the days of the that old adage if it looks like a sheep, then it must be a sheep, have gone, as you cannot by law now try even to define these particular species let alone call them miss, mrs, or mr, anymore, so thats the reason i dont watch them.
the last resort was a bi, something being elected mayor of bangor north wales, and they have painted a big lets be having you sign on the road in angelsey, makes me mad everytime i go to my boat

We have a quiz show out here, format of an old English one. The worst people who cannot or don't know the answers are, young people doing media studies or teachers . Now I know there are many questions of a subject that happened before they were born, but give me strength, we we not born during the old kings of England's times but most remember some of it being tought, these people don't even know the History or the Geography of Australia, and they would have only left school for a few years.
Last week the compare said to one young teacher as she left, good luck with your teaching career, I think he should have said god help the kids you are going to teach.

When I was 20 Des I was full of big ideas and after getting my 2nd. Mates certificate I appled to go to a teachers training college., I was told I had to have at least 3 O levels , I had none, but they would accept a second mates cert.as one O level. Today they are supposed to go to Uni and get a degree but to me they are even dumber than what they were in our time. I watch some of those quiz shows as well and it gives me palpitations at the sheer ignorance and lack of intelligence some of those with degrees possess., JS
My Daughter has a first class honours degree in Bachelor of Education and had for her History part to write a thesis on the Hitler Years , so she at least knows or should know all about Hitler. ? Dont know about any other parts though. So any pub quiz with such questions she should be OK. JS

In 1970 I was in a pub in Newcastle (near the University), got chatting to a guy who was celebrating getting his degree in mechanical engineering and winning a job in Ceylon, teaching workshop technology in a technical college. It turned out he didn't know what workshop tech was, had no idea about hand tools or workshop equipment, he then asked me to give him all my workshop tech books which I had to fork out for from my miserable wages as an apprentice.

in the mid nineties i was looking for a second driver for uk deliveries .....along came a young man looking for the job .......on interview he stated he had a degree in mechanical engineering ......asked why he wanted to do long hours driving a vehicle to all parts of the country when he had ....which was to me such a majestic door opener as a degree....he stated he was no good at interviews which he did get tongue tied at etc ....to me he had learned parrot fashion ....but could not project himself whatsoever ....ny other driver could hardly write his name was a west indian ......who was constantly spotted coming out the betting shop but given a full days deliveries never failed ....any way the degree guy got the job but was never as good as the other driver....this is just a comparison of two different persons....cappy
