Known as 'cold ironing' didn't we always cold-iron our ships in drydock as far back as I can remember and thats a long time ago. At least the article didn't relate it as a 'World's first'

UCL mailships ran on shore power for the ten day stopover in Soton, nothing new here.
Although it should be interesting as we had to fire up the coal stations this winter to meet demand.

Things are only new to people who don't know that they already exist. How often have you heard newscasters say 'You'll be surprised to learn' when they should be saying 'I'm so dumb I didn't know that' but concentrating on Media Studies the rest of the world passes them by. Well Ivan, too true, i don't know if you watch the TV program, *would i lie to you*, but they had the young weather man from TV on, and according to himself did not know that lambs were produced by sheep, i found that really hard to believe, but he was very embarrassed by that fact, so what are they teaching in university ???kt

Keith, a friend of mine is a primary school teacher and she decided to have a harvest festivale. Kids were encouraged to bring all sorts of food which would be given to OAP's.
The food was all arranged and displayed on tables. This young girl grabbed my fiends hand and pointed at a carrot asking what it was, my friend replied carrot.
Response no its not, after a discussion the teacher asked why it wasn't a carrot, response carrots come in tins.

Yes Mr Thomas Schabanaker, I saw an earlier clip and the Farmer's wife thought he was taken the pizz when he asked where were the mother lambs, whilst standing near sheep. He admitted he was not joking........sad really
