Re: Where didn’t you go ?
Never reached Australia.
1973, rumours were circulating that after the SA fruit season was over, we would be off to Australia to load fruit.
Next we heard that it would be more expensive, as the ship would be responsible for cooling the cargo, not shoreside like S.A.
Did make Argentina with a cargo of spuds.

Arriving in Brisbane, Oz for the first time, we stood by the pilot ladder and
as he came over the g’whale, both he and the Old Man greeted each other. I dunno why I was surprised but the first thing I thought was “geez, they really do talk like that”. Funny how some things stick in your mind.

Re: Where didn’t you go ?
Like Brian we have visited more countries since retiring than I ever did at sea, and there ae still more out there.
Of most interest in recent times was the cruise which included Russia and the last one to Norway, both were something very different.
But do recall my first trip to Oz, in the says of the 'Swill'.
Looking over the side and there they ae, workers all with Gladstone bags. In UK only doctors or lawyers carried such.
What an odd lot I thought, why so many Doctors and Lawyers on the dock side.
I soon found out when at 1700 hours they all piled into the pub, bags in hand, leaving an hour later with six long necks in the bags.

Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.

Re: Where didn’t you go ?
OZ and New Zealand and Russia, The rest you can throw in the hat and I will name you a port I got to, One thing we all have in common of course was we sailed the same seas as each other and if you think about it they can alter land mass Amazon Rain Forrest ETC... ETC... But the sea never alters in fact we sailed the same seas seaman sailed hundreds of years ago, And could do for hundreds of years to come Terry.
