Re: Tony Blair
Lewis, if you want to have Euthanasia, it is not so simple, it means that you have to have someone who is prepared to administer it.
Now my son, who is a world famous Doctor, said, when I questioned him about it a while ago, "My job is to Save lives Not to put people down like a Vet putting down a dog."
I thought that was wonderful of him.
Your European friends may do that but not here. There are other ways of treating terminally ill people.
.
.
Regarding the froggy french, they are the most treacherous of Europeans. They were sinking British Ships and killing British Seafarers in WW2 of the West coast of Africa, the Survivors interned in prison camps far worse than the Japanese ones. Red Cross parcels left rotting in the monsoon rains and hot sun. many were marched through the swamps and jungles and across the desert to Timbuctoo, many dying on the way and then killed in Timbuctoo. The CWGC now looks after those graves.
.
They used 215 Nuclear Bomb tests, each one a thousand times more powerful than Hiroshima, in the Tahitian Islands, killing many of the Tahitians with radiation caused cancers and babies born with severe Birth Defects. The fish in the sea, their staple diet radiated and poisoned.
When the Tahitians protested in Pape`ete, Tahiti, they sent in the French Foreign Legion to hammer them.
I spend a lot of time in Tahiti and they HATE the French. They tax them, send the money back to france, they would not give them Independence but instead made French Polynesia a Province of france , thus making it impossible to get independence, as they are now part of france the same as Normandy etc. Five years ago they BANNED the teaching of the English Language in schools. last year when I was there, they even BANNED the teaching of the Polynesian/ Tahiti language, Their own language. Everything has to be spoken and written in French.
They have taken off them their traditional sacred lands, in Tahiti all the land belongs to the Tahitians, but now the French confiscated the land and build houses on it for the French people to go and live there and eventually get rid of the Tahitians. They now have the Euro as the currency, slowly getting rid of the Polynesian franc.
The Tahitians cannot fight back, the BULLYING FROGS have the well armed Foreign Legion based there to keep the Tahitians subjugated. It is terrible and disgusting what the French do to a lovely race of people who just want to live as they have always done. in peace.
I am going back to Tahiti in four weeks on 22 March, to see my friends again. I go there every year.
All that is why I HATE the French,
Yes the frogs are lovely people, if you want to live amongst them, BUT I would say, watch your back.

Re: Tony Blair
Captain Kong , please read what I said about Euthanasia. I have utmost respect for Individuals like your son.
But if you believe that Euthanasia does not already exist in the UK ummmmm!!!!!
The Liverpool Care Pathway for the Dying Patient (LCP) was a UK care pathway (excluding Wales) covering palliative care options for patients in the final days or hours of life. It was developed to help doctors and nurses provide quality end-of-life care. Now discredited, the LCP was widely abused as a 'tick box exercise', with patients being casually assessed as terminal, heavily sedated, and denied water so the diagnosis became self-fulfilling. Hospitals were also provided cash incentives to achieve targets for the number of patients dying on the LCP.[1]
The Liverpool Care Pathway was developed by Royal Liverpool University Hospital and Liverpool's Marie Curie Hospice in the late 1990s for the care of terminally ill cancer patients. The LCP was then extended to include all patients deemed dying.
While initial reception was positive, it was heavily criticised in the media in 2009 and 2012. In July 2013, the Department of Health released a statement which stated the use of the LCP should be "phased out over the next 6-12 months and replaced with an individual approach to end of life care for each patient".[2] However, The Telegraph reported that the program was just rebranded and that its supposed replacement would "perpetuate many of its worst practices, allowing patients to suffer days of dehydration, or to be sedated, leaving them unable to even ask for food or drink."[3]
A leading critic, Professor Patrick Pullicino, stated that the new proposals from the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence were ‘totally wrong and very misleading’ on the crucial issue of patient hydration. "Overall they’re quite similar to the Liverpool Care Pathway, they still have the problem of diagnosis but in addition, in terms of hydration, the language is very ambiguous. There is even a part there that says that withholding artificial nutrition does not hasten death. It’s definitely going to."
You have certainly enlightened me as how the French to this day still extract their pound of flesh from former colonies. But let's face it Britain and how we obtained and treated her colonies while building the worlds largest 23.8% of the worlds land mass did not achieve this by being Mr Nice guy

Re: Tony Blair
Hi Lewis
The Liverpool Pathway was a little different than a Doctor giving a patient the needle like a dog being put down, tho` the end result was the same, That has now been stopped.
Indeed my elderly sister in law was put on the Liverpool Pathway in Bolton Hospital , her sons took her out and placed her in a Care Home and she recovered and started eating and drinking, and walking around again. she lived for a another 18 months.
I certainly would not like to have the needle, that is more like an execution and many good Doctors do not like that method.
.
Regarding the British Colonies, They were all given Independence and we still give them Billions of Pounds in Aid every year.
.
froggy france does Not give them Independence only exploitation, except for countries like Viet Nam who fought the French and defeated them at Dien Bien Phu, wiping them out.
On the GEORGIC we had the job of evacuating the Survivors from the beach and returning them to Algiers and Marseilles.
French Polynesia has tried to gain independence, But the frogs refuse to give it to them, they still exploit and abuse them , they are Ruthless in their treatment of a lovely race of people , but are still exploiting them.
If you have read my previous post about the treatment of the Tahitian by the frogs then you may start to understand. The French are killing these people with their treatment of them. If they could rise up like the Viet Minh then the frogs would have problem.
You seem to enjoy living with a race of people who do this to an innocent race of Polynesians and who killed and murdered British Seafarers in WW2.
I guess some people have no shame.
I will never set foot in froggy france, I do have my principles.
Ia orana, mai tai orua ohuru mahana, Maitai.
Brian.

Re: Tony Blair
Let me assure you I only live in France because my son and my daughter inlaw + grand daughter are here. I have just about forgiven him for that, but she is a lovely girl and I could not have asked for better for my boy.
Same could be said for the British who all but exterminated the aborigines, the Irish, absent land owners let over 1,000,000 die an Gorta Mór.
The power of goggle so is the article below pure fiction then?
While several Caribbean luminaries are advocating that the anglophone Caribbean cut all links with their former colonial masters, politicians and the people in French (and even Dutch) colonies adopt the opposite attitude and in fact want to cement links with their colonial rulers.
Last month, I visited the French colonies in the Pacific (which will vote next month with France and its other territories to choose the French president) and they are completely against independence. The same is true of the people in the French Caribbean although some in French Guiana were advocating independence.
French Polynesia and the Francophone Caribbean (including French Guiana) want to retain their current status with France because of the enormous benefits that come with such ties. They are French citizens complete with civil and political rights.
For the anglophone overseas dependent territories, being tied to the former imperial power comes with certain benefits, not the least being financial aid, tourists to spur the economy, and visits from family members of the monarch that help to promote the countries as havens of stability and investment. A complete break from the UK may result in the loss of such assistance and as such may not be in their interest.
Such an important decision should not be made by politicians but by the citizens in the form of a referendum to approve or disapprove of severing all links with England. France and Holland allow their colonies to determine their political status as does the US with regard to Puerto Rico. And they all reject independence preferring to remain attached to their imperial mother countries which give them full citizenship rights.
Unlike British territories, anyone living in a French territory is a French citizen and can vote in its elections for president and the National Assembly in Paris.* Two citizens from Polynesia are elected to the National Assembly as are several more from the Caribbean and French Guiana.
The French politicians don’t neglect their distant citizens. President Nicolas Sarkozy recently visited the French Caribbean and French Guiana campaigning for votes but did not visit French Polynesia where he is not popular. Most Polynesians I spoke with last month are voting for the Socialist challenger Francois Hollande.
As in the territories in the Caribbean, the Polynesian politicians railed against France and demanded independence, especially during election campaigns, but once the elections were over, they toned down the anti-imperialist rhetoric and forgot about independence until the next election cycle. The same is true in St Martin, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, and Martinique.
Criticisms of French dominance and demand for more assistance and autonomy play well among local voters to win support.
The overwhelming majority of French Polynesians, like their counterparts in the Caribbean, prefer continued association with France.
The people do not want to lose their high standard of living compared with those territories which broke away from France or other imperial powers.* The GDP per capita of French Polynesia exceeds US$20K, far higher than any former French colony. France pumps some US$2B in aid annually into Polynesia that provides jobs and funds infrastructure work.* France would like to rid itself of that burden but the Polynesians won’t allow that to happen.
People told me they would like to have more autonomy and they are critical of French rule but when asked if they would like independence, they firmly said no.* They are promised a referendum again soon on status.* But that would be a futile exercise as people will not vote against the generous French welfare state and a French (EU) passport that provides access to most countries.* It is for similar reasons that Montserrat, Anguilla, Caymans, Turks and Caicos and the British Virgin Islands don’t want to break from Britain or why Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao don’t want to break from the Netherlands. If the Caricom territories want to sever their remaining ties (Republican status, Privy Council, etc) with Britain, the politicians should consult with the people in a referendum.

Lewis re#84
Thanks for the explanation on "The Liverpool Care Pathway For Dying patients."
There are three States where euthanasia is allowed under State law in my country. It takes three doctors to agree that death is a forgone conclusion before the final needle is given. I personally have no problem with that.
In my State, South Carolina, we have what is called a "Living Will" that is drawn up with the aid of an attorney (in my and my wife's case).
Our living will states in the eventuality that my illness is terminal, do not prolong my life, keep me comfortable, which includes pain medication and water.
In reality I am selecting euthanasia: morphine would be administered in ever increasing doses and ultimately would be the cause of my death though the death certificate would list the disease as the cause.
I have no way of knowing, but I would be surprised if this was not the common practice for terminal ill patients in a hospital or hospice in most countries.
I have problems with the like/thanks buttons: many will write a post that I thoroughly enjoy, it's entertaining and or thoughtful in content and worthy of a 'like'. Someone will write and instruct me on something like your explanation of LCPFDP, that's worth a 'thanks'. Some posts do both, so they get a 'like' and a 'thanks'. And then there's some who are in the running for both that add almost as a post script something derogatory and wrong about life or laws in the US and then get nowt.
By my reckoning this post up until the last paragraph had me in the running for a 'thanks' then I blew it, as some will now forget about the ninety percent in the running for a thanks and just zero in on "Well they don't over dose terminal patients in the UK, OZ, Canada, Scotland, Wales or sunny Spain.
I think your posts are kind of doing the same. Your augments are well thought out and presented, but somehow make my finger waver over both buttons. I wish there were buttons for 'like/thanks some, like/thanks most.
Anyway, thanks for posting and keep at it.
P.s. We carry a copy of our living will in our car and on our person when traveling, in case of accidents

Re: Tony Blair
Hi Lewis,
I mention the treatment of the Polynesians by the French because I know the people, I am in almost daily email contact with them and also visit every year for many many years now. So I do know the true story of the way the Tahitians feel about the abuse they receive from the French.
So as I have previously said, they turned them into French citizens against their wishes, The fact they are allowed to vote in French elections makes no difference to them, they are over 12,000 miles away. so big deal.
They have stolen all their sacred lands to build houses for French migrants to multiply and are forcing out the Tahitians, The lands they grew their crops on have been taken away, their own economy destroyed, so are now forced to rely upon French imports, their main diet of fish was destroyed by the French Nuclear Tests.
It is the systematic Destruction of an innocent lovely people by the Bully's in paris.
Go there, get to know the people, and find the Truth.
They have their own flag of Tahiti, forbidden to fly, only the French flag allowed. only the French language allowed, no more Tahitian language to be taught in schools.
I was presented with a Tahitian Flag. and very proud of it. I always fly it on the mast in my garden, on my birthday and on all my Tahitian friends birthdays. I just hope some frog tries to take it down.
If you are so happy to be part of froggy france so be it, your choice, but never mine.
Cheers
Brian.

Re: Tony Blair
Pos cannot trust any politicians ?
French presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron Speaking in Downing Street today, the centrist politician called his own country "a very attractive space".
Mr Macron called for a "fair execution" of Brexit.
As soon as he got outside: Said he would like UK banks and workers to relocate to his country.
And this following discussions with Theresa May ?
