    Default Question -Not a Quiz

I don't know if it is still done, but in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century ships were divided in 64 shares, and owners either owned one or multiple shares up to the 64 shares.
Anyone, know why the value of the ship was divided by sixty four and converted into shares and not say 100.
    regards
    Vic

Vic - I hope that THIS can help. There does not seem to be a definitive answer but there are a number of theories.
