Poppy from tower of london
Poppy arrived this morning , very well packaged and with an accompanying leaflet about the Tower of London project. I bought it to commemorate my Grandfather, NICHOLAS HARTLEY, Bosun of SS QUEEN. He drowned when the ship was torpedoed in June 1918.
Thrilled with the Poppy - it's really splendid. Made in England, too !
regards
Brenda

Re: Poppy from tower of london
Good to see you received it Brenda, in good condition. It was reported that a lot were broken in transit by a Courier Company whose employees were throwing them around , Those people had No respect.
There were no spares so a lot of people were very disappointed.
A very good memento of a brave Seafarer.
Cheers
Brian

Re: Poppy from tower of london
Been told I wont get mine until at least January. Regarding broken poppies I was informed they are prepared for any lost or damaged poppies and everyone who bought one will receive one regardless.

Re: Poppy from tower of london
Hope that you are as pleased with it as I am with mine.
I thought the whole presentation was really great. I wanted to display it in a brass shell case ( filled with sand ) from My Dad's ship , but it is too small, as the poppy is very top-heavy. Will have to try ebay for an 18pounder !

Brenda

Re: Poppy from tower of london
Brenda, if you can find some lead to add to the bottom, old wheel weights or lead strip from a roofer, that might be enough to work, failing that, I have a shell case measuring 9"-230mm X 3"-75mm which I will gladly donate to you, send me a PM if interested.
