    RAISING AND LOWERING TAXES
Of course taxes weren't lowered by the Scottish Parliament because they couldn't afford to. Similarly, they certainly weren't going to shoot themselves in the foot by raising them ! The SNP are behaving like spoilt children at a party. Ruining it for everyone else and demanding more and more.
Question 1. How much is this costing?
Question 2. Who is p......... oops sorry........... silly obvious question.

as an indication of the future if its a yes vote.
The exsisting Scottish parliament started out as a 40million pound job.The eventual cost was 400million.Someone that I know was involved in the process and reckons the members were like scoolkids, adding more and more bits to the plans. For instance there is apparently a walkway between two buildings which had to be covered in with glass so that members wouldn't get wet but could still see out.the cost of this was in the double figure thousands.
    good luck scotland

#92....John, when I was a young engineer, the definition of a civil engineer was somebody who can build for a pound what any silly b***** can build for ten pounds. Now it seems to be the other way round.

Scotland has already lost millions of £'s off major shareholdings, as has England, I heard that 2.5 billion is the total so far It will have a knock on effect on prices and pensions. eg prices up---- private pensions down!

A yes vote will not just effect UK, many other countries who deal with Uk in trade may well also be effected. The knock on effect of situations such as this are never simple.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

    Huh
RBS, Royal Bank of SCOTLAND will move its headquarters to London if yes votes win. RBS founded by Royal Charter in 1727 in Edinburgh.
Lloyds Bank also moving its legal headquarters to London if yes wins
    Also
    Defence
Salmond says he is going to have a Scottish air force of 12 planes, a Navy of 2 ships and an Army of 3,000 soldiers.
Where is he going to get all the hardware plus men for these? Is he going to sneak in during a weekend and steal all the hardware?

    Hi All.
Her's a few advantages the Scots could have that most English people would like.
Getting out of Europe, not being dictated to by former enemies, joining the freedom to trade with Aus and NZ instead of Europe, not being dragged into useless battles by the Yanks like Iraq and Afghanistan
And one major advantage from what I can make out, not having to suffer David Cameron.
    Cheers DEs

#97 What are they going to trade, apparently all the whiskey and oil revenues are earmarked for better social services (which are currently the best within the UK) and the armed forces he is going to create, think I'd prefer Cameron to Salmond at least he can see the whole picture whereas all Salmond can see is a crown and to hell with the consequences and the Scottish opinion will be of little consequence on the world stage where unity is strength.

What about All the people who are on Benefits in Scotland, Plus the State Pensions, the pay out each month must be in the many many millions. All non productive, Can he afford that??
He thinks he will be President if the answer is YES,
If the answer is YES then there will have to be a General Election to elect a Government and a President ,
They could go independent but he masy lose out on the Election if Labour won and he would NOT be President. back on the dole.
    Cheers
    Brian.

I don't want to stir here, but if YES gets it - God forbid - everyone seems to be forgetting that Scotland should currently own about 10% of all the hardware of the British armed forces? Incidentally Ivan, liked your post, but the stuff they make in Scotland is whisky. Whiskey (with an 'e') is the stuff they don't make in Scotland. Just before leaving Scotland for Oz I was area engineer for Wm Briggs & Sons in Forres. I was responsible for maintenance at about a dozen distilleries in the area, whose managements were usually most hospitable. Sometimes I only just managed to find my way home to Forres!
