Re: Latest UK News
To all our UK members, welcome to the real world!! We here in Oz are about to go through similar problems with the age of retirement to rise to 70 in 21 years time. Who is to blame for all of this, the previous Labor gov who spent far more than they ever collected, this is a global Labor problem not just UK and Oz, and the doctors and scientists who are finding ways of keeping us alive for longer. The latest is that by the end of this century, only 86 years away, the average life expectancy will be 100. Who is going to pay the pensions then one may well ask?

Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.

Re: Latest UK News
People are sniping at local goverment pensions, which i have , i paid 11.25% of my wages for my pension for 30 years , which was into my county council coffers. This money was siphoned off to pay for other things, such as road repairs , street lighting etc, so it suits the councils to allow the public to believe they have to increase rates, to cover the shortfall in our pensions, bleddy deceitful, KT

Re: Latest UK News
How is that pension funds can still be raided by various local, national and European bodies?
I thought that after Robert Maxwell raided the pension funds of his newspaper empire before disappearing mystically off the side of his luxury yacht, that legislation had been brought in to ring fence pension funds in order to protect the fund members. So how come that unelected bodies such as the EU together with other Governmental bodies are still able to carry on this practice?
Is there a situation where if all the populace refused to vote in any future Council, EU, General Election so that no party was elected, then councils, parliament (EU and UK) would have to be disbanded and all the MP's etc. tossed on the scrap heap whilst a new system of government by the people for the people, as our American friends say, is devised. Though having said that a bit in my local paper today regarding my MP and a straw poll of citizen's saying she is doing a good job but not as good as the previous incumbent, a certain Milliband who absconded to the USA in order to trouser even more millions, makes me wonder if there are any level headed, conscientious and intelligent people around in this country who could come forward to govern us in the way that the silent majority wishes. Perhaps its time to revert to a reign by Monarchy with just a rump Parliament?

JA, who despairs of all politicians at all levels along with faceless civil servants trousering much moolah for doing nowt.

Re: Latest UK News
Thats nothing when the 42 Magistrates Courts Committees Joined with Crown and County Courts, if you transferred to the Civil Service pension, you lost all your contributions.
Civil servants didn't and still don't contribute to their pensions, we paid 9% of our salaries.
I asked what will happen to the contributions that we Magistrates personnel had paid into our fund,.
Guess what I am still awaiting a reply, I left my pension with County Council, who administered the fund on behalf of the Magistrates Committees.

Ron, Fish Face if he gets his way is going to have is own overseas aid budget, which will be quite substantial.
Makes me wonder with all his promises if anyone has taken the time to add up all his planned expenditure.
