Russian Ship Trapped
According to the news a Russian Ship with 50 passengers and crew is trapped by the ice in Antarctica. Two ice breakers are on the way to rescue the ship.
There is no imminent danger and all crew and passengers are well.

Re: Russian Ship Trapped
Every bit of untoward weather will now be used by the gloom makers that we are responsible for the continuing change of weather systems since time immortal and long before man inhabited the earth. This world as we know it will never be the same as it was even 100 years ago never mind 2 million. Everything has its use by time and the earth is no exception. So those with the boards around their necks and the end is nigh will be already getting ready to once again preach to the already persons who know, mans time on earth is probably down to the last 10,000 years or so. However..... I do blame the French for setting off an underwater nuclear device in the Pacific some years ago. This was against world opinion, and could have prompted the Tsunamis that followed not too long after. These are the people the weather people should go after, they should be thrown out of the EU for starters. JS

Totally agree with that John. The Tahitians are still suffering from the effects of the nuclear tests in Tahiti.
They should do their nuclear tests in Paris.

. I was in the Antarctic in 2009, and it was ******* cold, I was talking to a man from the Antarctic Survey team, BAS, he said the Antarctic was freezing more now than it has done for many years.

Re: Russian Ship Trapped
on BBC World service this morning they took a close look at the whole matter , one environmentalist was saying if Antarctica Melted the whole world would suffer a 54 Metre rise in sea levels I was really concerned and got my OS maps out , Cowplain and Waterlooville where I live is 200 feet above sea level that is 61 Metres above the present sea level , so the beach will be walking distance even for a limpy git like me , I have ordered a set of beach casting rods this morning , I just love fresh fish . Come on Global Warming !!!

Re: Russian Ship Trapped
Doc, whose is it it? Doubt it would not be Australian as as far as I know they do not possess any, unless they have one on charter?

Re: Russian Ship Trapped
Theres usually all sorts of ships on bareboat charter down here. Most modern high horse powered supply vessels reinforced for ice would probably have every chance of doing the job. JS
