Re: The Jungle. North Shields
I remember the Victoria in North Shields, I was with a Mad woman who was going to burn down her boarding House in Whitley Bay with all my Sailors in if I didnt take her to the Vic.
3 am, She gets out of my car climbs over the back yard wall , gets hooked up with her knickers on a nail in the gate , I have to climb over, she Screaming, scared someone will come. Get her free, we went out into the back street, she finds a car silencer and leggs it round to the front and chucks it through the big plate glass windows, I skid round the corner in my car and drag her in and do a ton all the way to Whitley Bay. Next day the Polioce are round, All the stock had vanished out of the bar Spirits, ciggies and money out of the bandit.
Fortunately they found a couple of guys who walking past later had seen the pub windows open , went in and cleared the stock.
I was a bundle of nerves with that mad woman. I wrote about it a couple of years ago, Brian

Re: The Jungle. North Shields
That is the VICTORIA, the one I have just been talking about. Those big windows went in when she threw the car silencer in. She told me her husband was shacking up with the Landlady of the Vic and was in bed with her at the time
Could write a book about it.
I didnt know it was called the Jungle.
Cheers
Brian.

Re: The Jungle. North Shields
You would not have liked it Brian , it was full of Women ? wanting sex with sailors , and wanting to take your pay off and invest it for you , some worked for the pool , so you had top sign back on again having got 200 yards from the ship before the pay off vanished for ever

Re: The Jungle. North Shields
Sounds just like the REX Hotel in Whitley Bay, full of preditors, the women were always on the rampage, dragging us up stairs against our wishes, when we stayed in there during dry docks.
I remember our second Engineer, he was in bed with one when his wife from Southampton arrived deciding to surprise him. The Reception gave her the key to the room and she walked in on him while he was on the vinegar strokes. End of marriage.
Cheers
Brian
