Re: The Jungle. North Shields
The Rex... Was one night a week forget which one, which was mostly frequented by comm ercial travellers. I sailed with a 3rd. mate whose father was a police officer, unbeknown to you Brian you were probably under surveillance that night, as a police officer used to stand in a position in another room and had a viewing hole through the wall. This put me off the Rex. Cheers John Sabourn

Re: The Jungle. North Shields
I wrote a big story of our adventures in the REX, we were there for over a month and I was nearly destroyed by the time we sailed. I think it was called. "Tyne dry dock nearly Killed me" if anyone can find it in the archives.
I had three mad women after my favours, one a Police Matron., one the Mad Boarding House Keeper where all our Sailors lived and a beautiful blue eyed blonde who really was lovely.
In the whole wide world there was never ever a place like the REX. An unbelievable place.
Beats the hell out South America, and all the other good runs.
but you need a hell of a lot of Stamina. to survive.
Cheers
Brian.
