I do not believe any one can be turned unless it is in them, no pun intended. But there are times when it takes something like this to wake up the latent homosexual. UCL had their fair share and like you I once sawa tourist winger come aboard looking straight but left as bent a the proverbial cork screw. He did admit though that for many years he had thought he wa sa bit 'different' but could not put his finger on what it was. Not another pun by the way.

Concerning homo's and the like it was doing my time at sea that converted me from being homophobic (not liking homo's). Mixing with them made me realise that they only scared those that where not sure of there own sexuality. This I think is the main problem with people ashore that they do not really get to know that it does not fecking matter in the least. I will be one of the first to put my hand up and say that I have known quiet a few homo's both on board and ashore and not once have I felt that I had to take on their sexuality in the least. In fact some of them I would trust more than those opposed to them. As said many times before by me. If you where throwing a party they where the best in organising a good old rave up for sure. Mean to say mixing with women does not mean that you are going to kick start a menstral cycle does it.

Not sure why anyone would be homophobic as in essence they are just another part of this rich tapestry of life we lead? The sad thing is they, gays often are riddled with angst due to their choice of life style hence so many suicides amongst them. Those at sea, yes a generalisation I accept, who were rabidly so, I mean homophobes, were often the ones servicing the fruits. I mentioned one incident I experienced in another post relating to 'late for watch relief.' Poor choice of words there (: We have many gay friends around the world, a goodly number in high professional as well as commercial positions. Those I met at sea with a few exceptions were OK, great company & amusing etc & never tried to take advantage of me when I was just a boy, but that was the same at boarding school. I reckon those who do, take advantage of the young I mean know how to pick their mark in that regard?
To me what is sad is it appears that for some young people today (a lot of the young lesbian girls) following that road do so as it can be seen as trendy to do so then come back to this side of the blanket? What however I find beyond appalling is the disgusting western usually elderly males in Asia with the as they are known, 'rice queens' at their side, or the very young locals. Thailand-Cambodia-Viet Nam-Philippines ( ironic you don't see it in Laos) are the worst & Thailand the absolute worst. It is the only country in the world I have feel embarrassed to be a western male.
Oh I too find it difficult to believe that someone can be turned except possibly when very young? Must say am loving the gay marriage debate in UK hilarious & the plump lesbian preacher C of E I think, the other day who was interviewed cracked me up. The epitome of a hetro's idea of a Miss Marple lesbian spinster type, sure I could see a moustache, too much. Oh why the f... do they wish to get married one muses? Richard

I have a neice who is Lesbo and married in a Civil Ceremony and then adopted a boy.
I must admit, I do not like it, I am not Homophobic I just dont like them. [ that is a new word that never excisted before].
But Our UK Government, Cameron, is really pushing this marriage caper, because it is their Sexual Preference and Human Rights to do so..
Now Britain is in a mess, it is Bancrupt so they tell us, we have a milliuon problems here and in Afghanistan, etc. BUT they are not sorting all that out, they are more concerned with a few aging Queens getting married in a Church.
What Next. Will Paedophiles be able to cohabit with their very young friends??? Will ,in a few years when that becomes the Norm, will they be applying to marry young boys or girls, because it is not only their Sexual Preference BUT THEIR HUMAN RIGHTS.
Where will it all end, ????? Will they make it compulsary???

Brian if they make it compulsary I just hope that it is not retrospective. The only thing that gets my goat is how they highjacked a perfectly good word like "Gay" that explained a lot of how we feel about life and I for one still like to use it as it should be used. Also like watching boatraces when saying that I am feeling gay especially when knocking of work and in the showers with all the others. Which brings up another topic (pun intended as well). Anyone notice that showers at work are now segregated and a lot of the next generation go home without a showering until they get home. I know we had segregated showers on board but then that was more for safety than privacy. Got to end with an old saying here as well. Have nothing against Lesbians as I have the same interests as they do.

I have met a few homo*s in my sea faring days and also in my shore life and i was only once bothered by one it wasv on the D/Bedford on my fiierst trip i remember this guys name very well butb i will not say it .This was one of the ABs and he use to pester us deck boys a bit .So one time Johnny Mcnab and myself waited till he came into our quarters we had a bucket of water with a lot of Atlas (detergent )and its was very strong as soon as he came in we let him have full in the face he went berko and another AB came and we told him what happened.This homo never bothered us again . But at that time i was a bit scaredof him he was a bad looking bastard.

I think the British Government is pushing and broadcasting this Homos getting married in Church caper as a Diversion to take our minds off the State of our country and all the many Cuts they have imposed on our Services.

It all started after The Chancellor made his Financial State of the Nation and Budget for next year, saying we are Broke. everyone started shouting and then,....................
"SHOCK, HORROR , WE WANT HOMOS TO GET MARRIED IN CHURCH" headlines came out.
Everyone has forgotten about the State of the Country, the many Cuts imposed upon us, and are now concentrating on the Homos.

I have never ever been consulted by or asked questions by any Government body. so where they get their facts from is beyond me, I have also never heard of any one else being asked. So That is another Government lie.
We are constantly being manipulated by these bums and stiffs.
I see they are still Robbing and Stealing off the Tax Payer, two in the News, A Labour woman fiddled [stole] £53,000 off us and a Conservative Mp stole £90,000
