Anyone out there now, whom may have been aboard at the time. When Henry Owen Jones , from Nevin , went missing?
The Time period would have been in the early 1950,s.The Ship concerned, was either the Accra or Apapa.
The story . As I read it in the S.Wales Echo .from the Coroners Enquiry, revealed that Henry ,had the 12-4 Watch.
He was sleeping on Deck ,previous to going on Watch. Apparently when He was to be called ,He was reported
Missing. I believe the Coroner's finding was an Open verdict
My interest in the Event ,is that we trained together at the Vindicatrix, end '48 into '49. and every now and then ,should I see the Vindi Group Photo , one is reminded.

I remember in 1945 my Grandmother tried three times to commit suicide by gassing her self, fortunately my Aunt was still living with her at the time and saved her.
Then she lived another 36 years and died crossing the road and hit by a car at the age of 98..
.
. The son of a friend committed suicide by hanging himself. he was on Drugs and I guess a lot of Druggies do that.
There is definately no future in doing that
Brian.

There was a Bell Boy in the Engineers Accommodation on the Pendennis , 1st tripper , nice lad , from the Scottish highlands / Islands , girlfriend , nice life , he was introduced to pink gin by some unscrupulous wingers , and he was soon the object of their lust , a few gins , a bit of a fiddle about and within five weeks he had arrived straight and found out that he was gay , I don't have a problem with consenting adults , as long as they are discrete , but this lad was turned , and the excuse , well he must have had a gay side , cobblers , he was plied with drink to a stupor and shagged silly . I expect he lives in Brighton and mixes in the gay community , but I assure you he was straight when that trip started.

I did a trip on the Oriana, bridge o/s and kept myself to myself. Just before we got back to UK I gave in to the invitations and went to a party in the stewards bar. I couldn't believe my eyes to see these cabin boys that had joined the ship at the same time as me eight weeks earlier plastered in make-up and cavorting about. I can't imagine none of them were leaned on and wonder what their parents thought when they next saw their offspring.

And I thought it was just UCL , Calvin , I have said for years only to get Poo-Pooed that given the right circumstances a straight naive lad can be turned gay , and that older gays preferred younger men . I have been told , and ridiculed by the fluffy everyone has rights brigade that I am just a grumpy homophobic git and no one can be turned against their will , I maintained that with the right grooming they get into lifestyle and cannot find a way out , Oh ! and I am a grumpy old Homophobe as well

I watched one of the programmes that claim to connect to people's dead relatives , Not that there are any that I particularly want to speak too , A friend who is a member of the Magic Circle assures me that these TV Mediums are performing a " Magic " trick , and they are very good at it . I am inclined to believe him , but tink those guys are brilliant at what they do , even as a trick . I think I will study him a little more , there is a barmaid at the Hanging Grapes who could be an interesting ......
