Sweden, Middle of December Everade boat, The whole deck quay ships rigging and mooring lines were frozen solid. The bloody heaving lines where frozen in a coil. I will never forget that experience we spent 3 days frozen to the quay as we couldn't discharge any cargo because of the worst adverse cold conditions i have ever encountered. Another day another dollar Regards lads Terry.

Yes i agree with Peter St Johns is not a very nice place to moor but i to me the worst place was Makatea loading phosphate you are tied up at buoys and they bring the phosphate out in barges with a number of large basket in them so when they empty the stuff into the hold there is clouds of dust its every where even with the port holes and doors shut you could taste it and we could not go for a swim to many sharks around we was there for days on end

    Lou,
another bad cargo,Sulphur. We took on a full loadof the stuff in Coatzacoalcos,Mexico. It got everywhere, inside the accom,Galley and Engine Room,we were nearly blind with stuff. the Mate issued us with them small chipping goggles(bluddy useless) It took most of the crossing to the UK to get back to normal. This cargo was for British Steel Works,Irlam but when we arrived at the Manchester Ship Canal they said we were to Deep and would have to Lighten under the Grabs at Ellesmere Port. We started to dicharge into open railway wagons during a N/Westerly Blow, pritty soon that part of Town was covered in Sulphur.

Ah yes, but doesn't that sulphor make your eyes shine. You learn not to look over the hatch coaming when the grabs are at work too.

Capt. Kong hate to be a nay sayer but Oxford street does not run down to Circular quay. If your walking it at certain times especially during Gay Mardi Gra & you drop your wallet, suggest you kick forward until you get past Taylor Square (: Richard
