Sorry to inturupt. Been googling the Clan Alpine today as my grandfather was on board as the 3rd Engineer J.S Morris. He has loads of the pictures of the vessel after the cyclone, as well as an award winning story throughout the cyclone event. I can always pass on the information to you if need be :]

History
Dion, I am sure everyone on the site would welcome your input, we need as much as we can to keep the memory of our Merchant Navy alive, we look forward to receiving snippets when you have time. There are many ex Clan Line boys aboard our virtual ship.
Kind regards
Ivan

Reading this old thread - very interesting reading back over them... and notiticed your post Brian...
See you visited my home town of Broken Hill...
(For those who dont know - the nearest sea is 7 hours overland, west of Broken Hill, but we have a fair few Maritime connections here...)
We have a Titanic Monument

We have a Sea Scouts

140 miles East of Broken Hill (ie further inland) lies the historic Inland Port of Wilcannia - once the third largest port in Inland Australia

All that... and we are slap bang in the middle of Outback Australia...
No... Broken Hill is NOT the worst place to moor a ship... It's the Best...
