Up the Gulf Radio
When on tankers up the gulf in the 1960's I remember there was only 1 station we could receive.
It played pop music (24 hours a day I think) and at noon there was 20 miniute news in English. As I remember it was "The voice of the desert"
Do you remember this station, where was it based and who operated it?

I remember the `Voice of the Desert` Radio Station, it was an American Station based in Saudi.
It was Very Good, no stupid DJs burbling a load of crap, just none stop music, every six hours a news , then back to continuous none stop music.
Not sure if it is still going or not.
Cheers
Brian.

Gulf Music
Hi Lewis.. 'Voice of the desert' remember it well, great station for all the pop music, but did you ever listen to Radio Luxembourg whilst in the Gulf? Obviously there was a three hour time difference, but on several occasions I tuned to 'Horace Bachelor'!!!!!--Keymsham, Bristol.
Cheers,
Colin

'Voice of the Desert`
'Voice of the Desert` was the only station we could receive up the gulf. It was that and dead air.
